Dear Sir / Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to thank you for providing your service in organising our comapny's event at your hotel.
The company was looking to organise a job fair for new candidates. It looks two days, so we needed a seating area around more than 90 people. We used your main hall to take interviews for new employees, as well as, to served food. Overall all facilities were fine, we received a positive feedback from our guests.
Firslty, I would say that the staff was very polite and friendly, so we did not feel that we are meeting them first time in our life. In addition, all staff was very educated and could communicate in an international languages to deal with any kind issues. Although the hotel was crowded, we enjoyed everything without being disturbed. In the end, I would really thank you for providing free coffee to our guests.
I would appreciate it if you can fix the problem of your Wi-Fi connection. We had to face many problems with our software while saving the data of new candidates because Wi-Fi connection was not working properly.
Thank you for your service and I hope that you would consider the internet problem carefully
Yours sincerely,
Sandeep

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three required points: it explains that the company held a two-day job fair for candidates, describes the main hall and interviews, praises the staff and complimentary coffee, and requests a Wi-Fi improvement. The purpose and generally appreciative tone are clear. The event details are relevant, but some are not fully clear—for example, “a seating area around more than 90 people” does not specify the arrangement or capacity precisely. The praise is more developed than the suggestion for improvement, which focuses only on the connection problem and gives limited detail about its impact. To strengthen the response, clarify the event arrangements and make the requested improvement more specific, while retaining the courteous tone.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a sensible sequence: the opening explains why you are writing, the middle paragraphs describe the event and positive features, and the final paragraph raises the Wi-Fi issue. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these different purposes, and links such as “In addition” and “Although” show attempts to connect ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical or do not fit the relationship between ideas; “Firslty” (intended as “Firstly”) is unnecessary after the event paragraph, and “In the end” is an awkward way to introduce thanks for the coffee. The closing also lacks a final full stop. Use fewer, more natural linking phrases and make the connections between sentences more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the event, appreciation, and complaint, including relevant terms such as “job fair,” “candidates,” “interviews,” and “Wi-Fi connection.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “international languages,” though this phrase is not natural in context. Several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “comapny's,” “Firslty,” and “It looks two days” (meaning “It lasted two days”). Phrases such as “providing your service” and “any kind issues” are also awkward or incomplete. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they limit the range and naturalness of the vocabulary. Focus on accurate collocations and proofreading spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, for example, “Although the hotel was crowded, we enjoyed everything without being disturbed.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include “It looks two days” and “we are meeting them first time,” where verb forms and tense are not controlled; “all staff was” and “a positive feedback,” where agreement and article use need attention; and “as well as, to served food,” where the verb pattern and punctuation are faulty. The sentence about communicating “in an international languages” also has a number agreement problem. Practise consistent past-tense narration and check articles, plurals, and verb forms, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
