Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am writing to give the feedback on behalf of my whole team of Cognizant and thanking you for the smooth conduct of such a beautiful event for us on last Sunday October 18, 2026 on the occassion of our company's 5th anniversary.

We have invited my dignities from outside also who are indirectly linked with our organisation. Firstly, they all loved the ambience of the your hotel. They really enjoyed the way you welcome our guests. Secondly, the sound system and the decoration of the hall was so nice that everybody felt amazed with it. Last but not the least, the services you provided to all the us were so good that everybody loved it.

I would also like to give some suggestions that guests has highlighted to me . Firstly, your hotel was quite far from the city area and people could not able to reach by their own because it was neither on the google maps nor it has direction boards so if you take care about such minor points to would be really helpful for you. Secondly, the food was little bit spicy and tangy, would you please make sure to take care of it in future.

I hope you will work on my suggestions and we would definately contact you for our future events.

Yours sincerely,

Alex

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three required points: it identifies the occasion as the company’s fifth anniversary, describes positive features such as the hall’s sound system and decoration, and gives two practical suggestions about directions and the food. The purpose is clear throughout, and the comments are relevant to a hotel manager. The suggestions are supported with explanations—for example, guests struggled to find the hotel because it was not on Google Maps and had no direction boards. Some details are expressed broadly, such as saying the services were “so good,” and the event description could be more specific about its scale or activities. Developing these points with a little more precise detail would make the response more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear overall progression: an opening explaining its purpose, a paragraph of praise, a paragraph of suggestions, and a closing that looks ahead to future events. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Last but not the least” help readers follow the points. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, and the main ideas are easy to locate. However, the repeated listing markers make some of the development feel mechanical, and a few links between ideas are awkward—for example, the transition from the hotel’s location to the request to address the issue. Use a wider range of natural transitions and connect each suggestion more smoothly to its effect on guests.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses enough vocabulary to communicate the event and the feedback, including “ambience,” “sound system,” “decoration,” and “direction boards.” These choices show some range beyond basic terms. However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “my dignities” does not convey the intended meaning, “smooth conduct” is unnatural in this context, and “occassion” and “definately” are misspelled. Phrases such as “beautiful event” and “so good” are also general where more precise descriptions would strengthen the letter. Aim to learn common formal collocations for praise and recommendations, and check spelling and word forms carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The letter attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause explaining why guests had difficulty reaching the hotel and a polite request about future food preparation. The overall meaning remains understandable, but errors occur across sentence structures and agreement. For example, “the services you provided to all the us were” has an incorrect construction, while “guests has highlighted” does not match the plural subject. There are also article and verb-form problems in “the way you welcome our guests” and “people could not able to reach.” Some punctuation is missing around sentence boundaries, as in “hotel.They.” Review subject–verb agreement, modal constructions, articles, and sentence punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and accurate structure.
