Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter because I want to inform you that about recent event of the organization, I was one of them who help the company for better performance and it was the successful event which is big achievement for everyone who belongs to this company.

Firstly, in this event, the company launch their products and display them in front of audience and they demonstrate the features of their product. They also provide the prototype in the audience which will be the beneficial in the future outcomes.

Secondly venue of this event, selection of the hotel was much better from the previous events. There was a lot of parking space for the public and direction for the event was easy to find.

One thing I will suggest you for the future that is display units for the product which should be well design.

I am looking forward to a positive response.

Best regards,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover the three requested points: you describe a company product-launch event, mention the hotel’s parking and easy-to-find venue, and suggest improving the product display units. The event details are relevant, but the opening is difficult to follow and does not clearly explain your role or the event’s scale. Your positive comments are specific, while the improvement point is brief and would benefit from an explanation of what was wrong and how the hotel could address it. The letter also lacks a clear, appropriately formal address to the manager. Develop each point more fully and make the purpose and requested improvement unmistakable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a recognisable overall structure, moving from the event details to positive feedback and then a suggestion. The paragraphing helps the reader identify these sections, and “Firstly” and “Secondly” signal progression. However, the sequence feels somewhat mechanical, and the opening sentence contains several ideas without a clear relationship, making the purpose harder to follow. The transition into the hotel feedback could also be smoother, and “One thing I will suggest you for the future” is an awkward link to the final point. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each comment to the event or hotel more explicitly; this would make the progression more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “products,” “audience,” “parking space,” “prototype,” and “display units,” so the main subject is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “demonstrate the features.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “better performance,” “provide the prototype in the audience,” and “selection of the hotel was much better from the previous events.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less precise. Aim for natural phrases such as “launch their products to an audience,” “provide prototypes for attendees to examine,” and “the hotel was a better choice than the venues used previously.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the letter’s main ideas can usually be understood. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in the opening sentence, where clauses are joined in a way that obscures the relationships between ideas. There are errors in verb forms and agreement, as in “the company launch” and “I was one of them who help,” as well as article and sentence-structure problems in “which will be the beneficial.” The sentence beginning “One thing I will suggest you” also has an incomplete grammatical pattern. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build longer sentences around one clear main clause, checking agreement, articles, and punctuation.
