Dear Sir / Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this to share my experience which i recently had with your hotel and I would suggest few improvements to your Hotel.
Last week, our Company completed 25 years and our company booked your well known hotel on that occasion, where our valuable clients and employees enjoyed a lot.
Event area had a great ambience and services which hotel provided us was also top notch. Apart from that, dance group in event was also good, they entertained as well and employees were unable to stop themselves to dance with them.
I wish i could say same thing for food also, but it was not that delicious. In market hotel has a good reputation but food did not came to expectations. Food make us felt like it was made by some ameature chef. Dishes were more salty or sour in taste. Which effected on everyone's mood.
I hope you will consider my suggestions and take some actions to maintain reputation of Hotel.
Yours Faithfully,
Anmol dadwal

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses the main requirements: it explains that the company marked its 25th anniversary at the hotel, praises the event area and service, and identifies the food as an area needing improvement. The contrast between the enjoyable event and disappointing dishes gives the manager a clear account of your experience. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The event details are brief, and the improvement request remains general: “take some actions” does not specify what the hotel should do about the food. Develop this by suggesting, for example, a review of seasoning or a check of food quality. A more appropriate opening and a specific closing request would also make the purpose clearer and more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a generally coherent order: you introduce the visit, describe positive features, then explain the food problem and conclude with a request for action. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “Apart from that” and “but” signal addition and contrast. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. “Event area had a great ambience and services…” combines two points awkwardly, while the sentence beginning “Which effected…” is a fragment and does not connect cleanly to the preceding explanation. The final paragraph also moves quickly from criticism to a broad request. Use complete sentences and clearer links between the food’s taste, its effect on guests, and the improvement you want.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for describing the event and your reaction, including “ambience,” “top notch,” “reputation,” and “employees were unable to stop themselves to dance.” These choices communicate both praise and dissatisfaction. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, which limits precision: “food did not came to expectations,” “food make us felt,” and “ameature chef” do not express the intended meaning naturally. “Good” and “actions” are also broad where more specific language would help. Check spelling and choose conventional phrases such as “did not meet our expectations” and “take steps to improve food quality.” This would make the complaint sound clearer and more appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, such as “I wish I could say same thing for food also, but it was not that delicious.” The overall message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “our company booked” after the past-time context, “services which hotel provided us was,” and “food make us felt,” where tense, agreement, or verb forms need correction. The sentence “Which effected on everyone's mood” is incomplete, and the opening has inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation. Aim for accurate past-tense reporting and complete clauses: for example, “The food did not meet our expectations, which affected everyone’s mood.” More reliable control of these patterns would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
