– Mention what you particularly liked about the hotel
– Suggest areas for improvement.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir / Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear sir,

I am writing to express my satisfaction about the services provided by your hotel during our recent company event.

In the previous week, we hosted our anual company meeting in your hotel. About 80 guests were invited. We booked the main hall for our all-day confrence meetings, followed by lunch in adjacent garden.

To begin with the staff service, they were patient, easy to assist and helped us with technical arrangements. The meeting was highly successful. Moreover, the refreshments were delicious. Especially, the bread and soup was tasty. I never had a bread like the one I had in the confrence.

However, we experienced a small inconvenience which was the sound system. Volume was a bit low and we had to install additional speakers to continue our programe. Other than that, arrangements were amazing.

I look forward to co-ordinate with your hotel for future events. Thank you for your service.

yours faithfully,

Hafsa.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you explain that around 80 guests attended an all-day company meeting, describe the staff and food positively, and identify the low volume of the sound system as an area to improve. The event details and praise are clear, and the specific mention of the bread and soup makes the appreciation more personal. The improvement point is relevant, but it would be stronger if you stated what change you would like the hotel to make, such as checking or upgrading the audio equipment before future events. Some details, particularly the event description and the requested improvement, are less developed than the positive comments, so the letter does not yet extend every point fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall sequence: purpose, event details, positive feedback, a problem, and a courteous closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and transitions such as “Moreover” and “However” make the shift from praise to criticism easy to follow. The organisation is effective, though some linking feels slightly mechanical: “To begin with the staff service” is an awkward way to introduce the praise, and “Other than that” repeats the contrast after “However.” The reference in “they were patient” is understandable but could be clearer by naming “the staff” again. More natural transitions and tighter links between the sound-system problem and a specific recommendation would make the progression more flexible.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a formal hotel letter, including relevant terms such as “technical arrangements,” “refreshments,” “sound system,” and “additional speakers.” The positive and negative feedback is generally easy to understand, and the specific food detail adds a personal touch. Some spelling and word-choice errors remain, including “anual,” “confrence,” and “programe,” while phrases such as “satisfaction about” and “easy to assist” are not natural collocations. “A bread” is also an unsuitable expression for this meaning. These inaccuracies do not prevent understanding, but more accurate spelling and conventional phrasing would make the letter sound more fluent and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the relative clause in “which was the sound system” and the time sequence “followed by lunch.” Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly. Some grammatical errors remain, however: “the bread and soup was tasty” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “in adjacent garden” needs an article. The opening “Dear sir” and closing “yours faithfully” also need consistent capitalisation and punctuation. The sentence “I look forward to co-ordinate” uses an incorrect verb pattern; write “I look forward to coordinating” or “I look forward to working with your hotel.” Greater control of agreement, articles, and verb patterns would improve accuracy.
