Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you identify the event as a company manager’s birthday party, mention the staff’s enjoyment of the music and food and the usefulness of the lockers, and explain the parking problem with a request for improvement. The purpose is clear and the details are relevant. The positive comments are reasonably specific, while the improvement request is less fully developed: explain what practical change, such as more spaces or clearer parking arrangements, would help. The event details could also be presented more clearly and consistently. The letter is appropriately framed for a hotel manager, and its coverage is strong overall, though some points need fuller explanation to make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter follows a sensible overall order: purpose and event details, positive features, the parking concern, and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, and phrases such as “In addition to” and “The main challenged we faced” signal a shift between ideas. However, some connections are awkward or unclear, particularly the long sentence about employees finding parking and the contrast between those who arrived early and the rest. Several ideas are crowded into one paragraph, and punctuation does not consistently mark sentence boundaries. Use shorter sentences and clearer links—for example, explain separately that early arrivals found spaces but later guests did not—to make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the event, the hotel’s positive features, and the problem, including “precious belonging,” “parking,” and “inconvenience.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “helpfull,” “usefull,” “colleague,” and “resolve this problem for any type of inconvience.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “reach at your hotel” and “the timing of party.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they make the letter less polished. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “arrive at the hotel,” “the event ran from 8 p.m. until midnight,” and “address this issue.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes both simple statements and attempts at more complex sentences, such as the sentence describing the parking difficulty. The main message remains understandable, but grammatical control is uneven: some sentences combine several clauses without clear punctuation, and there are errors in articles, possessives, agreement, and verb patterns. For example, “yours hotel” should be “your hotel,” “the timing of party” needs an article, and “I look forward to hear” should be “I look forward to hearing.” The sentence beginning “those people came early” also needs clearer clause structure and punctuation. Practise checking sentence boundaries and common patterns, while retaining the variety of sentence forms you attempt.
