Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my appreciation for your hotel's services during our recent company event.
On last saturday our company arranged annual meeting for 50 employees and eveyone attented that meeting. The conferece hall was booked for presentations and discussions. Apart from this, dinner arranged for all the participants.
Everyone liked spacious and well decorated hall which was fully equipped with advance equipments such as laptops, sound system, mics and so on. Your hotel staff was friendly and cooperative during the whole event whenever people needed help they are ready. The seating arrangement was excellent. Overall, in your hotel we received excellent customer services.
I would appreciate if you consider some of my suggestions. Firstly, if you improve your parking spaces that will be beneficial for customers because it is so conjusted. Secondly, in food menu you have very limited choices for the vegetarian people and also serve food on time for the people.
I hope you will consider these suggestions for future events.
Yours sincerely,
Kirandeep

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requirements: it explains that the company held an annual meeting for 50 employees, describes positive features of the hotel, and offers suggestions about parking and vegetarian food and service timing. The appreciation is clear, and details such as the presentations, dinner, equipped hall and helpful staff make the account relevant and supported. The improvement points are also specific, especially the congested parking and limited vegetarian choices. To strengthen the response further, develop the suggestions with a little more explanation—for example, clarify how parking affected attendees or what additional menu options would help. The tone is appropriately appreciative and constructive, though a more formal opening such as “Dear Sir or Madam” would suit the requested salutation better.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear, logical sequence: the purpose of writing, details of the event, praise for the hotel, suggestions, and a closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish the event experience from the requested improvements, while signposts such as “Apart from this,” “Overall,” and “Firstly” guide the reader through the points. The progression is easy to follow throughout. Some linking is a little mechanical, and the long sentence beginning “Your hotel staff was friendly” joins two ideas without suitable punctuation or a connector. You could improve flow by separating that sentence and using more varied transitions, while keeping the current straightforward paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough vocabulary to describe the event and hotel experience, including “spacious,” “well decorated,” “fully equipped,” “cooperative,” and “seating arrangement.” These choices communicate the main points, and the tone is generally suitable for a formal complaint-free feedback letter. However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations reduce accuracy, such as “eveyone attented,” “advance equipments,” and “conjusted.” Phrases such as “customer services” and “serve food on time for the people” could also be expressed more naturally. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for hotel facilities and service; this would make the vocabulary more precise without requiring unusually advanced words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple statements and attempts at more developed sentences, such as the sentence describing the hall and its equipment. The meaning is generally understandable, but errors in verb forms, articles, agreement and sentence boundaries are noticeable. For example, “On last saturday our company arranged annual meeting” needs more accurate article and time phrasing, while “whenever people needed help they are ready” shifts tense and lacks punctuation between clauses. “I would appreciate if you consider” also needs a more complete grammatical construction. Practise accurate past-tense narration for the event and use a consistent structure for suggestions, such as “I would appreciate it if you could…” Shorter, correctly punctuated sentences will help control these patterns.
