Dear Sir / Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to share my feedback after organising a company event at your hotel (Regenta) on 20th July 2026. The event took place in the main hall located on the ground floor and 50 people from the company participated in it. It was a social event where employees got an opportunity to meet people with different roles within the company.
Everyone, including myself, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the services offered by the hotel. The most noticable thing was the decoration, which admired me the most. The flower pots placed at the enterance gate captured my great attention and the songs played in the background really created a great vibe.
Although I really enjoyed my time there but, I was concerned about one thing. I would suggest that it would be great if you could provide different cuisions rather than Indian only. It is due to the fact that many people like myself can not tolerate the spicy Indian food.
I hope you will take this into consideration and do the needfull.
Yours Faithfully,
Mark.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear, appropriate purpose. You identify the event as a company social gathering, give its date and venue, and explain that 50 employees attended. You also describe specific features you appreciated, such as the decorations, flower pots and background music, before suggesting a wider choice of cuisines. These details make the feedback relevant and supported. The improvement request is understandable, though its rationale focuses mainly on your own difficulty with spicy food; explaining that a varied menu would accommodate guests with different preferences would develop the suggestion more fully. Overall, the task is covered clearly, with some scope to extend one idea and make the feedback more broadly persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter is organised in a clear sequence: purpose and event details, positive comments, then a suggestion and closing. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these functions, and transitions such as “Although” and “I hope” guide the progression. The event details are grouped together effectively, while the examples of the hotel’s atmosphere support your praise. Some linking is less smooth in “Although I really enjoyed my time there but,” because “although” and “but” perform the same contrast function. The shift from praising the hotel to discussing food is understandable, but a more direct transition could make it feel more natural. Overall, the organisation is logical and cohesive, with a few places where connections could be handled more flexibly.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal feedback letter, including “organising a company event,” “atmosphere,” “background” and “different roles.” Specific descriptions such as the flower pots attracting your attention help convey your experience. There are, however, some spelling and word-choice inaccuracies, including “noticable,” “enterance,” “cu isions” (written as “cu isions” in the response as “cu isions” is not intended; the actual word is “cu isions” without a space?); and “needfull.” The phrase “decoration, which admired me” also uses an unsuitable collocation, and “great vibe” is somewhat informal for this letter. More accurate spelling and natural collocations would make the vocabulary more precise and consistently appropriate to the audience.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response includes a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, for example the relative clause in “the decoration, which…” and the conditional suggestion “if you could provide…”. Most of the message remains easy to understand, but some grammatical errors are present. In “Although I really enjoyed my time there but,” the contrast structure is incorrectly combined; use either “Although I enjoyed my time there, I was concerned…” or “I enjoyed my time there, but I was concerned…”. “It is due to the fact that many people like myself can not tolerate…” would be clearer with more controlled punctuation around “like myself.” The closing sentence also has an awkward construction: “I hope you will take this into consideration and do the needful.” Greater control of these patterns would improve accuracy.
