Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter regarding the event we recenty arranged at Park Hotel, concerning our product that has just lauched.
The event was well organized and everybody in our team showed their best efforts in all the arrangments, the welcoming of the guests till the see off time, leving no stone unturned.
The venue was the best choice we made as the amount of guests who showed up was beyound our expectations. The Hotel had a good ventilation, comfortable sitting, separate bathrooms for males and females, great catering services and what not?Everything went smooth as planned.
I would like to say that next time we will arrange a separate sitting for each sex as I noticed that some females were getting uncomfortable sitting with the males.
Moreover,we can add a free mini sample of our new launch product so that people can try and test the product and give us feedbacks on spot.
Kind Regards,
Alam

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you identify the event as a product launch, describe the hotel’s facilities and catering, and offer suggestions for future events. The positive details—such as the guest numbers exceeding expectations and the event running as planned—make the letter relevant. However, the event itself is only briefly described, and the improvement points are not clearly framed as areas for the hotel to address. Separate seating by sex and product samples are suggestions about event arrangements rather than specific hotel services. Develop the event details and make the hotel-focused improvements clearer, for example by commenting on service, facilities, or coordination.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: purpose, event experience, positive features, and suggestions. This makes the main message easy to follow, and phrases such as “Moreover” help signal an additional point. The paragraphing, however, is limited, with several different functions crowded into long blocks. The transition from praising the hotel to proposing separate seating and product samples is also abrupt, and “next time we will arrange” makes the suggestion sound like your own plan rather than feedback to the manager. Use distinct paragraphs for the event, what worked well, and improvements, and connect each suggestion explicitly to the hotel’s role.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for a formal letter, including “venue,” “catering services,” “expectations,” and “feedback.” These choices communicate the main points, and expressions such as “leaving no stone unturned” show an attempt to use less common language. Some spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “recenty,” “lauched,” “arrangments,” “beyound,” and “see off time.” A few phrases are also unnatural or informal for this context, such as “and what not?” and “feedbacks on spot.” Check spelling carefully and choose conventional collocations, such as “receive feedback immediately,” to make the letter sound more natural and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the opening purpose clause and the sentence describing the event’s organisation. The meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. For example, “the amount of guests who showed up” uses a singular quantity expression with a plural count noun; “the number of guests” is more suitable. “The Hotel had a good ventilation” also needs an article adjustment, and “Everything went smooth” requires the adverb “smoothly.” Several sentences run together without spaces after commas or clear sentence boundaries. Use shorter, accurately punctuated sentences and review articles, count nouns, and adverb forms.
