Dear sir,
I hope you are doing well.I am writing to let you know about event held at your hotel and we all loved it. Last week we came from Browns Social house to celebrate our staff party at your down town location in waterloo.Event had some games, dance and dinner. Also at the end of the night we play the lucky draw and who won that draw manager gave them price money and gifts.
We all enjoy your food, food service and your staff but particularly i liked the most is your music system.I naver heard this kind of music any where. That Traditional and classic pop music combination touch my hart. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you explain that the event was a staff party held at the Waterloo location, describe games, dancing, dinner and a lucky draw, praise the food, service and music system, and identify unstable chairs and tables as an area to improve. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. The event description and the praise are more developed than the improvement request, which mainly says the furniture shakes when items are placed on it. To strengthen the response, explain the practical effect on guests and make a specific, courteous request, such as asking the hotel to inspect or replace the furniture before the next event. The letter is appropriately addressed to the manager, though a more consistently formal tone would help.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: opening and event details, positive comments, then a suggestion. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these functions, and transitions such as “Also” and “Additionally” signal the movement between points. This gives the response a coherent arrangement. However, some connections are mechanical, and several sentences run together without adequate spacing or punctuation, for example “doing well.I am writing” and “location in waterloo.Event had.” The long final sentence also combines the furniture problem, its effect and the reason for mentioning it, making the request harder to follow. Use clearer sentence boundaries and link each point in a more controlled way; this would make the progression smoother and the references easier to understand.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including event-related terms such as “lucky draw,” “conference hall” and “surround effect.” There are also attempts at more specific description, particularly the contrast between “traditional and classic pop music.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “naver,” “hart,” “price money,” “shaking” and “nagative effect.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “food service” and “the combination touch my heart.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall message, but they make parts of it less fluent. Check spelling carefully and learn natural collocations for describing service, music and furniture; this will help you express your positive impressions and criticism more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can generally follow the event and your opinions. However, errors occur across verb forms, articles, agreement and sentence construction. For example, “we play the lucky draw” needs a past-tense form, while “who won that draw manager gave them” lacks a clear grammatical structure. In “particularly i liked the most is your music system,” the clause is not formed correctly, and “when you put something on it, will shaking” has an incomplete subject and faulty verb form. Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention. Aim first for accurate, complete sentences, then add complex structures only when you can control their clauses and verb forms.
