Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The letter gives a relevant account of a visit, mentioning the reservation, the wait for a table and service, and the food arriving at different times. It also identifies a positive point—the food was “delicious”—and recommends staff training and more organised service. However, the task asks about an event you helped your company organise, whereas the response describes a personal meal at the hotel and gives no event details. The positive comment is also brief, and the improvement suggestions are not clearly tied to organising an event. To address the task more fully, explain the event’s purpose, size or arrangements, describe a specific hotel feature you appreciated, and make focused suggestions for improvement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The ideas follow a broadly understandable sequence: the visit and service problems are described, then a recommendation and closing are given. Time markers such as “Recently” and “Finally” help the reader follow events. However, the letter is presented as one dense block rather than in clear paragraphs, and the shift from the opening to the complaint is abrupt. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “This kind of negligence make us ignored,” which makes the relationship between the service problems and their effect difficult to follow. Separate the event details, positive comments and suggestions into paragraphs, and use clearer transitions and references so each point connects smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough vocabulary to communicate the main experience, including “reservation,” “approached,” “delicious,” “negligence” and “constructively.” There are also attempts to express service-related ideas, such as staff communication and serving food in an organised manner. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “acknowledge you about,” “experience of visit,” “make us ignored” and “maintain your efficiency.” Spelling errors such as “writting,” “aknowledge,” “additionaly” and “trainning” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural phrases—for example, “inform you about my experience,” “our visit to your hotel,” and “we felt neglected”—and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The letter attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a sequence of events joined with “despite” and “before,” and a recommendation clause beginning “so that.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the message harder to understand. Examples include “despite of having reservation,” “this make us,” “when order has taken,” and “the food was arrived”; these show problems with prepositions, agreement, articles and verb forms. Punctuation and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “doing well.I am.” Practise accurate past-tense narration and check each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb. More reliable control of these patterns would make the letter easier to read.
