Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing this letter to provide my feedback regarding an event for the celebration of 50th opening anniversary of my company that was organised in your hotel this past weekend. I was given the opportunity to manage all the tasks relating to this event which included finding a suitable place to organsie it while making sure that everything stays within budget. Numerous Hotels and conventional centers were seen but none of them matched our desired expectations as they were too expensive. After browsing around we stumbled across your hotel and went in to enquire. The Managing director Vikas warmly welcomed us and provided us full overview of all included services in the plan we choose according to our budget. One thing that really strike me was the amount of services included in plans that too at a very reasonable rates.
Although, Everything was perfect i want to advise you regarding some areas of concern mainly the parking space. On the event day we had a lot of difficulty finding parking spots as the space was limited, Numerous indiviuals had parked their cars on streets due to lack of parking spots and ended up receiving tickets from parking enforcement officers which was not desired. I hope you will pay attention towards this issue and try finding a alternative solution in order to avoid this from happening in future.
Yours Faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points: you explain that the event celebrated your company’s 50th anniversary, describe the hotel’s services and reasonable rates, and identify limited parking as an area for improvement. The parking concern is supported with a concrete consequence—guests received tickets after parking on nearby streets—so the request for action is clear. Your account of choosing the venue also gives useful context, although the event itself could be described more fully, for example by mentioning its size, activities, or how the hotel’s arrangements worked on the day. Overall, the purpose and tone are clear, and the ideas are relevant and supported, though some details are more developed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible progression: you introduce the event and your role, explain why you selected the hotel, then move to your positive feedback and the parking issue. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main stages, and links such as “Although” and “On the event day” guide the reader. This is a coherent overall arrangement, but some connections are awkward or mechanical. For instance, “Although, Everything was perfect i want to advise you” does not clearly signal the contrast, and the long sentence beginning “On the event day” joins several points with a comma. Use clearer transitions and divide that sentence so each consequence is easy to follow. More precise referencing would also make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a formal complaint-and-feedback letter, including relevant expressions such as “within budget,” “reasonable rates,” and “parking enforcement officers.” There are also attempts at less common or formal wording, such as “provide us full overview” and “areas of concern,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural. “Conventional centers” is not the usual term for venues, and “desired expectations” is redundant. Spelling errors such as “organsie” and “indiviuals,” along with inconsistent capitalisation of “Hotels,” reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but more natural collocations and careful proofreading would make the vocabulary more precise and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the relative clause in “an event … that was organised in your hotel” and the clause explaining the parking problem. The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. Examples include “the 50th opening anniversary,” “provided us full overview,” and “a alternative solution”; these involve article or noun-phrase structure. In “the plan we choose,” the verb form should match the past context, and “Although, Everything was perfect i want” has punctuation and sentence-boundary problems. The long parking sentence also needs clearer punctuation. Review articles, past-tense consistency, and sentence boundaries to improve accuracy while retaining your complex structures.
