Dear Sir / Madam,

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to provide my feedback regarding an event that I recently attended at your hotel. This event was organised by LTI Mindree organization, and I was a part of an organizing commitee. This event was held on November 2nd this month.

First, I would like to inform you that the event was well organized and well planned. I particularly like the arrangment of the stage. Additionally, the food was delicious, and I specially like the lunch menu. The sound quality was exceptional, and it was clear. Futhermore, I would like to mention about the seating arrangement. The seats were comfortable and spacious.

There are some areas of improvement which you can take into the consideration. The hotel parking space was too small, and it was extremely difficult for our guests to park in such a tiny space. Despite informing to the security staff, the issue was not resolved promptly. Therefore, I would like to request you that please look into this matter as soon as possible.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Yours faithfully,

John Brown

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a suitable, polite purpose throughout. It identifies the event as organised by LTI Mindree and gives its date, then describes positive features such as the stage arrangement, lunch, sound quality and seating. The parking problem is also specific, including the difficulty guests faced and the unhelpful response from security, followed by a clear request for action. These details make the feedback relevant and generally well supported. To make the response more fully developed, clarify the event’s nature and scale—for example, what kind of company event it was—and explain more precisely what improvement you expect in parking or staff response. The opening says you attended the event, while also identifying yourself as an organiser; make that role clearer for consistency.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear sequence: the event is introduced, positive features are described, and the final main paragraph turns to a problem and request. Paragraphing supports this progression, and signposts such as “First,” “Additionally,” and “Therefore” help the reader follow the points. The letter also uses an appropriate opening and closing. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, with several sentences beginning with additive transitions, and “Futhermore” introduces seating without adding much to the progression. The shift from “attended” to being “a part of an organizing committee” also makes the writer’s role less clear. Grouping the positive details more smoothly and using a wider range of natural links would make the cohesion more flexible.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for a formal feedback letter and conveys the main points clearly. Phrases such as “sound quality was exceptional,” “seating arrangement,” and “resolved promptly” show some range beyond basic description. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “commitee,” “arrangment,” and “Futhermore.” Some expressions are also awkward or repetitive: “particularly like” and “specially like” are close in meaning, while “tiny space” is less suitable in tone than a more neutral description of limited parking capacity. “Mention about” is not a natural collocation. Aim for accurate spelling and more precise formal phrasing; this would strengthen the range already shown without changing the clear meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

The letter uses a mix of simple sentences and more developed structures, including “Despite informing to the security staff, the issue was not resolved promptly.” Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and the overall control is sufficient for a formal letter. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in verb forms, articles and sentence patterns. For example, “I particularly like” shifts into the present tense when the rest of the account is in the past; “into the consideration” uses an unnecessary article; and “I would like to request you that please look into this matter” combines incompatible request structures. “Despite informing to the security staff” also has an incorrect grammatical pattern. Correcting these while retaining varied sentence forms would improve accuracy.
