Dear Sir / Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to give a review about the recent event at your Grand View hotel, which took place on 1st November 2026.
The Decoration was up to the mark as per the event. Apart from that, the food was really delicious which made our guest happier. And lastly the photo Booth session was a unique idea for making our event day so special.
There are some areas where we think you should look to improve. Firstly, there was a less parking space, bacause of that our some guests had to park their vehicles outside the hotel. Secondly, The servers were less, which caused a little delay in serving the food.
Overall, I would like to thank you for your management team for this incredible event management. It was really beyound our expectations. We would definetely look forward to you for any other events in future.
Yours faithfully,
Karamjeet Kaur.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter covers all three requested points: it identifies the event and date, praises the decoration, food and photo booth, and suggests improvements to parking and staffing. The purpose is clear and the appreciative closing gives the letter an appropriate overall tone. Some details are less fully developed, however: the event itself is described only as a recent event, without saying what kind of occasion it was or how many people attended, and the improvement suggestions are not accompanied by practical details or a request for action. The response therefore addresses the task well, but fuller, more specific information about the event and the hotel’s shortcomings would make the content more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear progression: the opening explains why you are writing, the next paragraph gives positive feedback, the following paragraph raises concerns, and the final paragraph thanks the hotel. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Overall” help the reader follow the points, and paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter. Some linking is a little mechanical, particularly “Apart from that” and “And lastly,” and the positive points read more like a list than a connected account. You could improve flow by grouping related details and using more natural transitions, while keeping the clear paragraph structure and logical order already present.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “unique idea,” “delay in serving the food,” and “beyond our expectations.” However, several choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate or awkward, such as “give a review about,” “the Decoration was up to the mark as per the event,” and “look forward to you.” Spelling errors in “bacause,” “beyound,” and “definetely” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, but the range is not yet consistently natural or precise. Aim for standard business-letter expressions and check spelling carefully; for example, say “provide feedback on the event” and “look forward to working with you again.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes a mix of simple sentences and some attempts at more complex structures, such as the relative clause “which took place on 1st November 2026” and the result clause “which caused a little delay.” The overall meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems persist. For example, “there was a less parking space” has an incorrect article and noun construction, while “our some guests” has incorrect word order. The sentence beginning “And lastly” is also an awkward fragment-like continuation, and “We would definetely look forward to you” lacks a suitable grammatical complement. Work on articles, word order, and complete sentence construction, and use punctuation to separate sentences consistently.
