Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent days, price of groceries have sky rocketed. Daily essentials such as fruits and vegetables are inaffordable due to that many people believe government should implement tax rebates to make these necessities affordable. However, there are some pople who think authorities should impose higher tax on unhealthy foods that invites diseases to human beings. I completely agree with both views because fruits and vegetables are basic human right so government should reduce tax on these items. Addition to that, government should impose double tax on unhealthy products so they can balance their revenue for tax relief on healthier items.
Firstly, authorities should focus on measures that helps taxpayers to enjoy fruits and vegetables without worrying about its price. For this, government can reduce tax on import of these produces so the prices can go lower. For example, government of Canada cut the tax on import of these products which helped grocery stores to reduce their prices.
Secondly, many people argue that tax agencies should implement double tax on import and sales of junk foods. These food are harmful to our health and if government imposed double tax on these products then they can provide other daily nutritional fruits on lower prices without negatively impacting on its revenue. For example, imposing 100% tax on chips and making fruits and vegetable tax free can help support country's taxpayers.
In my opinion, government should focus on helping farmers by giving them interest-free loans which will motivate them to increase their yields that will directly impact on the price of the crops. Authorities should cut middle men and should focus on resourse that will directly help farmers reach local markets that way farmers will also earn good profit and there will be no commission for the middle men which will automatically lower the price of the produce.
Finally, fruits and vegetables should be enjoyed by every member of the country for which government is responsible to make it affordable by any measures possible.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both proposed approaches and give a clear position: you support making produce cheaper and taxing unhealthy food, then add that government should help farmers and reduce intermediaries. The examples about import taxes and a 100% tax on chips make the discussion relevant. This meets the task well, with some elements showing the fuller development expected at the next level. However, the two views are not explored equally in depth: the case for taxing unhealthy food is mainly asserted through its health effects and possible revenue, without considering drawbacks or explaining how the policy would work. Your own proposal about farmer loans and market access is more developed, but its connection to the two views could be made more explicit and supported with a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a paragraph presenting your own proposal, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Finally” help readers follow the discussion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, the second body paragraph moves from taxing junk food to funding cheaper fruit without explaining the practical link, while the farmer-focused paragraph arrives as a new proposal rather than being clearly connected to your earlier position. Some references, such as “these products” and “they,” could be more precise. Use transitions that show cause, contrast, or consequence, and make each paragraph’s central point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “tax rebates,” “nutritional,” “interest-free loans,” and “middle men,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “negatively impacting on its revenue.” Some word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision, though the meaning generally remains clear. Examples include “price of groceries have sky rocketed,” “inaffordable,” “produces,” and “resourse”; “double tax” is also less natural than “double the tax” or “a higher tax.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling and word forms. More precise terms for policy mechanisms and food categories would help you express the argument with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “that,” and the main argument is usually understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas less clear. For example, “price of groceries have” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “many people believe government should” is missing an article before “government.” In “measures that helps taxpayers,” the verb does not agree with its plural subject; “These food are” also has a number-agreement error. Several long sentences combine multiple ideas without clear control, particularly the sentence beginning “In my opinion, government should focus on helping farmers.” Review agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, and vary complex structures while keeping each sentence manageable.
