Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the mordern era, a few people expecting that government have to reduce cost of fruits and vegetables. While others wanted it should put a tax on unhealthy food. Let me explain both views and after that I will give my personal opinion on it.

To begin with, there are bunch of people thinking that government needs to reduce cost of fruits and vegetables. One major benifit is families get more fruits and vegetables in their meals, because of it members of family can get healty food, which helps them to stay strong and safe againts any health issues. For example, eating banana in the morning provide vitamin D. Another good reason is, less expensive food can affordable by the low earners, which is keep them away from doctors.

On the other hand, there some people thining authorities shoud impose taxes on the unhealthy food. First significant affect is persons stop eating unhealthy so they can automatically spend their money on their health. Moreover, with taxes price get little expensive for every one so people avoid such food by them self. I belive, pushing

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify both proposed approaches and give relevant reasons: cheaper produce could help families and lower-income people, while taxing unhealthy food might discourage its purchase. However, the response only minimally develops these points, and your own opinion is not completed: “I belive, pushing” ends mid-sentence, so the reader cannot tell your position. The example about bananas and vitamin D is also not clearly accurate or well connected to the argument. Most importantly, the response contains 176 words, below the required 250; the 8 words copied from the prompt are excluded from this count. To improve, state your view clearly and support each side with fuller explanations and relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic, recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “To begin with,” and a contrasting paragraph introduced by “On the other hand.” These markers help the reader identify the two views. However, progression is limited because the discussion stops abruptly at “I belive, pushing,” and there is no conclusion to bring the argument together. Some links are also awkward or unclear, such as “because of it members of family,” while repeated phrases like “Another good reason” and “First significant affect” make the organisation feel formulaic. Develop each paragraph around one clear point, explain how it supports the argument, and use a final paragraph to state your opinion and summarise the discussion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “reduce cost,” “unhealthy food,” “taxes,” and “low earners.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “impose taxes” and “health issues.” However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear or natural: “mordern,” “benifit,” “healty,” “againts,” and “thining.” Some combinations are also awkward, including “less expensive food can affordable” and “spend their money on their health.” Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing affordability, nutrition, and consumer behaviour, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the ideas without relying on repeated general terms such as “good reason.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences using clauses and connectors, for example, “One major benifit is families get more fruits and vegetables in their meals, because of it members of family can get healty food.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but the structures are often faulty, and the reader has to work to understand the relationships. Errors include missing or incorrect verbs (“there some people”), subject–verb agreement (“eating banana … provide”), and incomplete constructions (“less expensive food can affordable”). The final fragment, “I belive, pushing,” is also grammatically incomplete. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, with limited accurate control of complex forms. Practise complete clauses, articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
