Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some pupils believe that the authority should make unexpensive healthy food such as fruits and vegetables. While others think tax should be on those items which are not good for health. This essay will discuss both sides of argument and then state my own opinion in upcoming paragraphs.

Those who support fruits and vegetables argue that it is better for health, as it helps to boost energy and provides protein, minerals as well as vitamins which are very necessary for human body. For example, there are many well known sports people who having healthy food like fruits and vegetables. They have good enough energy to play and win the awards in the games due to following the best product. As a result, if government will make fruits and vegetables cheaper then other people may also have these items by influencing from famous figures.

On the other hand, if law maker may put tax on fast food then individuals might be reduce to eat this kind of things because of more taxes or expensive which they may be not afford to eat daily bases. The unhealthy food is very dangerous for human's organs . For instance, according to survey 80% people who prefer to eat unhealthy food they are facing a lot of problems related to health as heart attack, breathing and so on.

Therefore, if there will be tax then may be they would try to eat health food than other.

Conclusion, from my perspective government should keep cheaper to fruits and vegetables so, then people can afford to buy and save their money for their other expenses. It will be more healthier option for individuals than junk food.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a clear preference for making fruit and vegetables cheaper, so the response is relevant to the task. The first view is supported with health benefits and an example involving sportspeople, while the tax argument explains that higher prices might discourage unhealthy eating. However, these ideas are only partly developed: the sportspeople example does not clearly show how lower prices would help the wider public, and the claim that 80% of people who eat unhealthy food have health problems is presented without explanation or support. Your opinion is clearest in the conclusion, but could be stated more directly in the introduction and justified with a fuller comparison of the two policies. Develop the reasoning behind each view and use more convincing examples to strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “For example,” and “As a result” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly where the sportspeople example leads to the claim that others will buy produce because they are influenced by famous figures. The final paragraph on taxation is very brief, and “Therefore” followed by a separate conclusion makes the ending feel abrupt. Some connections are also mechanical or unclear, including “This essay will discuss both sides” and “Conclusion.” Improve cohesion by making each paragraph develop one central point in a clear sequence and by using referencing and transitions more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “vitamins,” “minerals,” “tax,” “unhealthy food,” and “expenses,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts of the response harder to understand. Examples include “unexpensive healthy food,” “best product,” “daily bases,” and “more healthier option.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “those items which are not good for health” and “facing a lot of problems related to health.” Aim for more accurate collocations and a wider range of terms for policy and health, such as “subsidise fresh produce,” “impose a levy,” and “health risks.” Check word forms and spelling carefully, and avoid repeating broad terms such as “food” and “people” when a more precise alternative is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if government will make fruits and vegetables cheaper” and clauses introduced by “as” and “because.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some ideas difficult to follow. For example, “people might be reduce to eat” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “who having healthy food” lacks a correctly formed verb. Other problems include “if law maker may put tax,” “they may be not afford,” and “if there will be tax then may be they would try.” Articles, agreement, and punctuation also need attention, as in “for human body” and the space before the full stop after “organs.” Practise accurate conditional forms and verb patterns, and keep sentence structures simpler until you can control them reliably.
