Student answer (Band 6.0)

A number of developed nations are struggling with incresing health issues caused by consumption of unhealthy food. Some people believe that to handle the situation, governments should make organic foods more cheaper and to increased taxes on junk food.In my personal opinion citizens should be educated to eat healthy and on the same time fruits and vegetables should be subsidised.

On one hand many individual feel that fruits and vetables should be subsedised by governments so that people can choose organic food easily and a better health can be acheived nationwide.Over the last few decades the eating habits has been transformed dramatically with introduction of take aways, multiple buger shops and a convenient delivery method .No doubt that the fast food has created multiple jobs and goverments are getting a large amount of taxes from the industary , however new challenges appeared in the form of health issues like obesity, diabetes and poor cardiovascular health. Growing health issues are putting burden on health care services and these issues are impacting mental wellbeing for many individuals .

The other school of thought is to impose more taxes on unhealthy food.theoratically this exercise could reduce the consumption of fast food and this experience remained successful by making tobacco products more expensive in the past. However it will restrict population to have their favourate food and will affects personal choices, secondly this effort will end up in loosing several jobs including cheffs, riders and distributers in this indust

I feel that the issues can be tackled by early education about healthy eating , balanced diet and by making exercise a part of our lives.Governments should start these programmes in schools so that children are well aware of drawbacks of unhelathy foods by the time they leave.Although imposing taxes on fast food is a relevent idea however by maintaing balace in our eating habits can resolve the issues more efficiently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both proposed approaches and give a clear personal view: you support educating people and subsidising fruit and vegetables, while acknowledging that taxing fast food could reduce consumption. The discussion of health consequences—obesity, diabetes and pressure on healthcare—provides relevant support. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The case for subsidies is explained through affordability and access, whereas the tax argument is brief and relies mainly on a comparison with tobacco; the possible effect on jobs is mentioned but not explored. Your own proposal for school education is relevant, but would be stronger with a specific example of how it could change eating habits. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding paragraph stating your position. Signposts such as “On one hand,” “The other school of thought,” and “I feel” help readers follow the discussion, and the ideas generally progress from the health problem to possible responses. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, connections within paragraphs are occasionally abrupt, particularly where the discussion moves from fast-food employment and tax revenue to health problems. The tax paragraph also ends suddenly, weakening the progression into your conclusion. Use clearer links to show how each example supports the point, and ensure each paragraph develops a complete line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “consumption,” “subsidised,” “cardiovascular health,” “mental wellbeing,” and “personal choices.” These terms help communicate the main ideas, and some less common vocabulary is attempted. However, spelling and word-choice errors sometimes reduce precision, as in “vetables,” “subsedised,” “favourate,” and “industary.” There are also awkward combinations such as “more cheaper” and “a large amount of taxes.” Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases. More precise wording for the effects of food policy would also help, rather than relying repeatedly on broad terms such as “issues” and “effort.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “so that,” “although,” and “however.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the eating habits has been transformed” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “it will affects personal choices” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “the fast food” is not appropriate in this context, and several sentences run together after full stops or commas. These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they make the writing less controlled. Practise checking agreement, verb forms, and punctuation, especially in longer sentences.
