Student answer (Band 6.0)
People choosing to undergo cosmetic surgery has become popular in our days. It may be for aesthetics or for a medical condition. The reason why people is so much engaged to this kind of procedure is because they want to be good looking as it boosts their self confidence. I think it has a positive effect to humans as it allows them to give their best potential.
Cosmetic surgery is a procedure where it enhances someone's body part. It removes the ugly part of your body and replaces it with something new. I think the reason why it is being so trendy nowadays because humans have a lot of insecurties when it comes to their body. For instance, some may not be contented the way their nose is formed, so they opt to nose lift. Others want to have bigger chests and butts so they get fillers to make it big. However, others underwent cosmetic surgery due to medical reasons like when people got to an accident resulting for their bodies to be deformed and also for people who have an inborn condition where cosmetic surgery is the only way to get better.
I think it is a good development especially for people who needs it most. It boost's self-esteem and it brings out the best for people who wants to get there confidence back. For example, an obese person undergoes liposuction to remove the excess fats and with strict diet and exercise that person will be physically fit and will do things normally.
In conclusion, cosmetic surgery has become a trend nowadays as people are seeking to feel good about their physical appearance. And I think it has positive effect as it results to unlock one person's full potential.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a clear positive view, explaining that appearance-related insecurity and medical needs contribute to popularity. Examples such as nose surgery, fillers, and treatment after an accident make the response relevant. However, the reasons for the trend are not explored fully: the discussion focuses mainly on wanting to look better, with little explanation of other possible influences, such as greater social acceptance or access to procedures. The positive judgement is also supported mostly through self-esteem and one example of liposuction; the claim that surgery helps someone “do things normally” needs clearer explanation, particularly because cosmetic procedures do not necessarily treat obesity. Develop each main point with a more precise explanation and a directly relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The first body paragraph discusses reasons for popularity, while the next gives your view, so the reader can follow the main progression. You also use signposts such as “For instance,” “However,” and “In conclusion.” At times, though, the links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. The shift from appearance-related procedures to medical cases with “However” suggests a contrast that is not fully explained, and the definition of cosmetic surgery interrupts the discussion rather than advancing it. Some references, such as “it” in “it allows them,” could be more precise. Organise each paragraph around one clear point and connect examples explicitly to that point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cosmetic surgery,” “self-esteem,” “inborn condition,” “deformed,” and “liposuction.” These choices help communicate both appearance-related and medical reasons. However, the range is uneven, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, such as “engaged to this kind of procedure,” “nose lift,” and “get fillers to make it big.” There are also spelling errors in “insecurties” and “contented,” and “ugly part” sounds judgemental and imprecise. Aim for more neutral, accurate phrasing and check spelling. Using terms such as “body-image concerns,” “rhinoplasty,” and “reconstructive surgery” would make the discussion more precise and appropriately academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “where,” “when,” and “as,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement and verb forms. For example, “The reason why people is” should be “the reason why people are,” and “It boost’s” should be “It boosts.” The sentence “the reason why it is being so trendy nowadays because…” is missing a linking verb structure; write “the reason it is so popular is that…”. In “an obese person undergoes liposuction … and … that person will,” the shift from present to future is awkward. There are also errors in “people who needs it” and “people who wants.” Review subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences with complete, consistent clauses.
