Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people often undergo cosmetic surgery to enhance their features. Whereas for some people these medical procedures had become the mandatory requirement due to medical reasons. This essay will discuss the two reasons of its popularity. I believe it can have both impacts, negative and positive depending upon on which grounds cosmetic surgery is done.
In many parts of the world cosmetic surgery is now popular. One of the reason is influence of social media. Social media platforms like Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook expose users to heavily filtered and surgically tailored images. This creates a self realization among people that they may look more beautiful if they look like in those filtered images. One more reason is the technology advancement. Modern medical technology has made cosmetic procedure more realible and authentic. The process is now shorter and only target the specific area rather than going into full face surgery.
I personally believe every technological change has both aspects positice and negative. One of the negative impact is the chances of risk. Every procedure comes with post surgery risk even if it's for medical reason or to enchance the appearance. One more reason is nowadays competition to look better than othesr is increased. Due to this rush, people may end up to low expeirenced surgeons resulting in wrong surgeries.
On the contrary, this development has some positive impacts. One of the impact is the cosmetic doctors, they are now in high demand which leads to more job opportunities. One more positive judgement is that the severe medical problems like cancer, breast tumors can now be dealt with advance machinery and more experienced doctors.
In the conclusion, every technological advancement have positive and negative impact. If used to just influence others and to make others poor then it will have a bad impact on our society. On the other hand the development in this area has created cure to serious medical conditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: social media and improved technology are offered as reasons for popularity, and you present both positive and negative effects. Your position—that the impact depends on the purpose of the procedure—is clear in the introduction and conclusion. The discussion of social media is the most developed, with examples of filtered images and their influence on self-image. By contrast, the technology point is brief, and the positive medical example needs greater precision: cancer and breast tumours are conditions, but the essay does not explain how cosmetic surgery treats them or distinguish reconstructive procedures from cosmetic ones. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or a specific example to make the response more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on popularity and drawbacks, a paragraph on benefits, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “One of the negative impact” and “On the contrary” to show relationships between ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the contrast between the negative and positive paragraphs is not fully integrated with your conditional position. The conclusion repeats the general idea of positive and negative effects rather than drawing together the reasons discussed. Use more varied links and clearer references, and make each paragraph’s opening sentence connect directly to your central argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “social media platforms,” “filtered images,” “medical technology,” “post surgery risk,” and “job opportunities.” These choices allow you to discuss both appearance-related and medical procedures. However, several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision: “self realization” is unclear in context, “more realible and authentic” does not describe the technology naturally, and “positive judgement” is not the intended meaning. Errors such as “positice,” “oth esr,” and “expeirenced” also affect the impression of control. Aim for precise collocations and proofread spelling; for example, describe technology as “more advanced” and procedures as “more reliable.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a conditional idea in “If used to just influence others…” and a contrast introduced by “Whereas.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “One of the reason is” needs a plural noun, while “every technological advancement have” has a subject–verb agreement error. The opening fragment beginning “Whereas” is not joined correctly to the preceding sentence, and “depending upon on which grounds” has an awkward prepositional construction. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries. Practise combining dependent clauses with complete main clauses, and check agreement and article use during revision.
