Student answer (Band 6.0)
People often disagree on how places other than their own country can be discovered. Some people thinks travelling is the only way to explore them whereas some people believes internet and television provide enough information. This essay will discuss both views and I believe while internet and television are definitely a good source of information but international travel provides first hand experience.
On the one hand, the information from internet anfd television is readily available for everyone all over the world. There many documentaries, channels, movies that help us to locate the places in different countries. For example, many people leave their homes just to explore different places and document them. This is the source of their income. We can watch such things which will help us to understand the places that exit in the world and alos helps them to make such content more often.
On the other hand, travelling to other countires to learn about them remains the most reliable and authentic source of information. Being present in the country allow us to use all five senses. One a person visit physical in any of the country they engage with locals, taste the cultural food, learn about the history, witness the cultural habitats. These all give every lasting memory to a person rather than just watching or listening from another person who visited there.
In my opinion, to understand any country's history it's necessary to visit and experience from their own eye. Conversely, internet and television are also the most important medium to get information. People can use these mediums before visiting to know basics from that country.
In conlusion, using internet and televisionis udget friendly for those whocannot afford to visit the places but gaining the insight from being present their is something beyond imagination.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and gives a clear overall preference: travel offers first-hand experience, while television and the internet are useful sources of information. Relevant support includes watching documentaries and engaging with local people, food and history. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that travel is “the most reliable and authentic source” could be supported by explaining what visitors can learn directly that media may not convey. The first view also relies on a vague example about people documenting places for income, without showing how this helps viewers understand them. The conclusion introduces affordability, a useful point that could be developed in the main discussion. More balanced explanation and specific examples would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, the writer’s opinion and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” makes the discussion easy to follow, and the main position is identifiable. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the stronger progression associated with the next level. However, links between ideas are occasionally mechanical, and some references are unclear. For instance, “This is the source of their income” follows the example of people documenting places, but the connection to the argument about viewers learning is not fully explained. The final paragraph also repeats the opinion rather than drawing the discussion together. Use clearer links between examples and claims, and make each paragraph’s progression more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses a range of relevant vocabulary, including “first hand experience,” “authentic source,” “five senses,” and “cultural food,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “lasting memory.” However, word choice and spelling are inconsistent enough to limit precision: “cultural habitats” does not clearly express the intended idea, while “exit in the world” appears to mean “exist.” Errors such as “anfd,” “countires,” “alos,” and “conlusion” are noticeable. Some phrases are also unnatural, including “visit physical” and “from their own eye.” Aim for accurate collocations and proofread spelling; this will make the ideas clearer and allow the vocabulary range to work more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay attempts both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast structure in “I believe while internet and television are definitely a good source … but international travel provides first hand experience.” The meaning is generally recoverable, but some errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “Some people thinks” and “some people believes” should use plural agreement, while “Being present in the country allow us” needs a singular subject–verb match. The opening opinion sentence also needs restructuring to avoid combining “while” and “but” awkwardly. In “One a person visit physical,” the clause and verb form are faulty. Greater control of these patterns, alongside careful punctuation and sentence editing, would improve accuracy while preserving the range of structures attempted.
