Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people can learn about foreign countries through various sources. While some believe that travlling abroad is the best way to collect the information about the other contries and other argued that the internet and television provide sufficient information about other nation. Although both methods have advantages, i believe that visiting other countries is more valuable experience.

On the one hand, travelling to foreign countries allows individuals to explore different cultures and traditions directly. They can interact to the local people and ask every thing about their culture and society. They also can taste local and national foods. For example if a man visit to Turkey can experience famous icecream and also observe the hospitality of the local people. He can also explore the historical mosques and understand the local customs more closely. Therefore, travelling can develop cultural awareness and attitude of the local people.

On the other hand, television and internet are the sufficient and convenient sources of information. People can watch documentaries and explore attractions through online videos and learn history of different nations without travelling. They would also save their time and money. For example if they visit physical, they must have more than 5000 dollars and they must have to spent more than a month to explore the cultural and social norms. But on internet, they can understant their culture in less than 2 hour and they waste little amount on internet package.

In conclusion, although television and the internet provide the valuable information about the foreign countries, in believe that travelling in more effective and wonderful source to explore the culture of other nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion: you favour visiting other countries because it offers a more direct cultural experience. The two body paragraphs also provide relevant reasons and examples, including local food, interaction with residents, documentaries, and the cost of travel. This covers the task well, but the views are not developed equally in depth. The benefits of travel are explained more fully, while the online-information argument relies mainly on convenience and a broad cost comparison. The claim that someone can understand a culture in “less than 2 hour” could also be qualified, since online sources cannot provide the same direct interaction. Develop this contrast with a more specific explanation of what each method can and cannot teach.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the discussion easy to follow, and examples generally appear alongside the point they support. The progression is therefore coherent, though some links feel mechanical and a few references are unclear. For instance, “if they visit physical” does not clearly identify what place or activity is meant, and “Therefore” introduces a conclusion about cultural awareness that is not fully explained by the preceding details. Use more precise references and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim. The conclusion also repeats the opinion without adding a concise synthesis of the two sides.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss travel, culture, and media, including “traditions,” “documentaries,” “historical mosques,” and “cultural awareness.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “hospitality of the local people.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “travlling,” “contries,” and “understant” are misspelled, while “collect the information” and “explore the culture” are not always natural in context. Some wording is repetitive, particularly “local people” and “culture,” and “valuable experience” is less precise than the argument could be. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, and vary repeated terms with suitable alternatives such as “residents,” “customs,” or “heritage.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a concessive opening (“While some believe…”) and conditional examples (“if a man visit…”). The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “if a man visit” needs a matching verb form, and “They can interact to the local people” has an incorrect grammatical pattern. In “they must have to spent,” the verb form and modal construction are faulty; the final sentence also contains errors in “in believe” and “travelling in more effective.” These examples show why greater control is needed even though the main ideas can be followed. Practise accurate conditional sentences and modal structures, then proofread for agreement and articles.
