Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the benefits of restoration are mentioned, the explanation of why modern buildings might be preferred is more detailed. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a full summary of the argument. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a balanced level of detail and that the conclusion is fully articulated to reinforce your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Furthermore' are used effectively to signal transitions. However, there are some issues with referencing and flow; for example, the opening sentence is grammatically fragmented, which slightly disrupts the initial coherence. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints, which helps the reader follow the argument structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, though there are several spelling errors such as 'attrection,' 'compere,' 'publiced,' 'messively,' 'infrasturactre,' and 'surroned.' These errors do not impede communication but indicate a need for more careful proofreading. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'conservation,' 'infrastructure,' and 'heritage value,' which is positive. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and expanding the range of collocations used to describe economic and architectural concepts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'tourist boost,' 'old building acquires') and pluralization (e.g., 'old building' instead of 'old buildings'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete final sentence is a significant error. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors suggests that the writer needs to focus on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence completion to improve the overall control of the language.
