Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is often argued that historical buildings should be restored. While, others think that government should replace them with modern architecture and facilities. This essay will discuss both views before explaining why I believe that renovation is better choice.
On the one hand, some people believe that government should restore the historical sites. The main reason of this is that it would help to attract tourism. Now a days, individuals prefer to visit old cultural heritage to broaden the horizons of knowledge. A good illustration of this can be seen in states whose are popular because of old architecture such as, Agra famous for Taj Mahal.
Furthermore, another significant benefit of this it would help to generate great revenue for the economy.
On the other hand, others think that, governments should replace old architecture with modern infrastructure. They believe that reconstruction is cost effective solution because government have to spend a considerable amount of money for renovation. Reconstruction can be done in same amount of money with advanced facilities to meet the needs of modern generation. It will assist to save government funds for other improvements. A clear example of this can be seen in buildings those needs renovation every year but once replaced they are going to survive for more than twenty years.
In conclusion, both views have their own advantages. Considering above paragraphs I believe that, renovation is best choice as it will help to boost tourism industry, and also creates a sense of pride among the citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as tourism and economic revenue for restoration, and cost-efficiency for replacement. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'modern generation' needs more specific explanation to be fully convincing. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting points could be extended with more depth to move into the higher band descriptors. Overall, the response is a solid attempt that covers the requirements of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'a clear example of this can be seen in buildings those needs renovation', where the connection between the example and the preceding point is slightly clunky. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'historical sites', 'cultural heritage', and 'modern infrastructure'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in collocation and word choice, such as 'renovation is better choice' (missing an article) and 'states whose are popular' (incorrect relative pronoun). To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring articles are used correctly with nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('government have to spend', 'buildings those needs') and article usage ('renovation is best choice'). The sentence structure is functional, but the errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, the student should proofread for common errors like missing articles and ensure that plural/singular subjects match their corresponding verbs.
