Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, few people think that old buildings, like townhalls and art galleries need to be renovated whether it is costly. Others say that law makers need to amke new buildings. In the upcoming paragraphs i will expalin both viewpoints and give my own opinion.
To begin with, some individual think that old buildings need to restored. Firstly, these buildings represent our culture and store our heritage in it. Restoring them help future generation to understand the culture of their ancestors and architectural design of the old buildings. Secondly, these old buildings attract the tourist from all over the world. So, preserving them helps to generate income and job opportunities for many people. For example, Paris is great tourist attraction because it contains alot of old buildings.
On the other side, some poeple believe that outdated building needs to replace with new ones. First and foremost reason is cost. To restore old building require alot of money which put alot of burden on the government. Moreover, making new building require less money and time. And, government should invest rest of money on public wellfare to build hospitital, schools and parks. Moreover, if government should make restore these buildings then their is no chance that it will stay for a long time. Secondly, there is space issue. These old buildings are made for less population and these are not for modern generation. Makng new buildings have great space for large population and modern facilities. For example, replacing old art gallery with modern gallery create more space for exhibition and provide great experience.
In my opinion, governmnet should need to restore these old buildings because their tradition and culture cannot be replaced. Whether restoring these building needs alot of money, but their tradition and culture always stay in it for future generation and tourits. Moreover, if any building can not be replaced and has saftey issue then government shuold need to buikd new building.
In conclusion, whether new buildings have modern struture and require less maintance, but old buildings safe their hertitage and culture which is great tourist attractive and contribute in country economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as cultural heritage versus economic and space-related concerns. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the conclusion where the arguments are restated without adding new depth. While the position is consistent, the supporting examples, such as the mention of Paris, are quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your reasoning with more specific details or nuanced explanations rather than simply listing points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the second and third paragraphs. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, for example, the use of 'it' in 'store our heritage in it' is ambiguous. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'renovated', 'heritage', 'architectural design', and 'public welfare'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'law makers need to amke' (make), 'tourist from all over the world' (tourists), and 'tourist attractive' (tourist attraction). Spelling errors are also present, such as 'amke', 'hospitital', 'buikd', and 'maintance'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they limit the score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('some individual think', 'old building needs to replace'), article usage ('the tourist', 'the country economy'), and tense consistency. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. Although these errors rarely impede communication, their frequency prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your control over complex structures will help improve your score.
