Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural value of heritage and the economic benefits of modern infrastructure. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the argument regarding modern buildings creating job opportunities is slightly underdeveloped and lacks clarity in its expression. While the prompt is fully addressed, the supporting arguments could be more logically extended to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, which is a positive feature.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'However', 'On the contrary', and 'To begin with'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the phrase 'Therefore, ahead of my opinion'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the flow between ideas could be improved with more natural linking phrases and better control over paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'monuments', 'heritage', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'history tale', 'live past things', and 'vlogging the places they visiting'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. To improve, the student should focus on learning collocations and more sophisticated academic vocabulary to express complex ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the new generation'), subject-verb agreement ('tourists comes'), and prepositional usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing spaces after commas and periods. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear, and the errors rarely cause significant difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on sentence-level accuracy and ensuring that complex structures are formed correctly.
