Student answer (Band 6.5)

A best way to learn and understand about a community is by looking at their history, heritage and architect. Thats why government spends tons of money to preserve and restore on all these areas.

Some people argue that this is unnecessary spend and wastage of public money. The better argument is that government should replace old buidling such as town halls and art galleries with new modern building.

Well both people are right in their own perspective. as it is important to have mordern infrastrucure to support the continous development, but again it equally significant to secure of history.

Scientifically, it is significant to restore all the old structure because they are symbol of long resilience and history. It is the great way to pass on the culture and ethical values to upcoming generations.

Old architect is only have a historical significant but also help scientest to understand the story of human evolution, how we have survived and came so far. Many mordern equipment and building are based on the fundamentals of old structures.

On the other hand, some building are old and dangerous. In addition to this, old buidling had occupied more land as compare to mordern architecture, for instance Great wall of China, old Tempales etc.

The demography has drastically changed, instead of cutting down more tress, it is better to demolish old buildings and utilize the same space for contructing new and safe places.

In contrast, in my perspective both the opinions are technically and logically sounds. Both holds strong arguments.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, fulfilling the main requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument regarding 'scientific' reasons for preserving buildings is not clearly explained or linked to the prompt effectively. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should ensure that each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by specific, well-explained supporting details or examples that directly relate to the prompt's focus on town halls and art galleries.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'In contrast, in my perspective' is used incorrectly to introduce a summary, as 'in contrast' suggests a shift in argument rather than a conclusion. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the mention of the 'Great wall of China' as an example of a building that should be demolished, which is logically confusing. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and contains several errors in word formation and collocation. Examples include 'unnecessary spend' (should be 'unnecessary spending'), 'old architect' (should be 'old architecture'), and 'mordern' (spelling error). There is also a reliance on basic vocabulary. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to urban planning and heritage conservation, and pay closer attention to word forms, such as distinguishing between nouns and adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Some building are old'), article usage ('a best way'), and pluralization ('old Tempales'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for common errors like missing articles, incorrect verb endings, and spelling mistakes to improve the overall accuracy of your writing.
