Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the economic benefits of historical buildings, the argument for modern buildings is less developed, focusing primarily on maintenance costs and elevators. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully supported with more detailed explanations or specific examples. The introduction is a bit vague, and the conclusion could more effectively summarise the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'However', 'On the flip side', and 'Furthermore'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'Otherwise' in the third paragraph, which does not logically connect the ideas. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more natural progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'It is often deem' (deemed), 'remarkable debate', and 'makes our life more smoother'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'infrastructure' and 'eminent sites', the overall range is limited. Focusing on more accurate word forms and collocations will significantly improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('one of the major reason', 'buildings... that require a less maintenance'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. For example, 'It is very an important that' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, you should focus on proofreading for basic errors and work on constructing more complex sentences with greater accuracy to demonstrate better control over your grammar.
