Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people around the world feel connected through the old buildings which includes town halls and art galleries despite other people thinks that these buildings should be replaced with the modern high tech infrastructural buildings by the government. Though restoring these buildings can incurred huge amounts while upgrading these to new modern buildings could be cost effective.
Art galleries and town houses depict the country's pride and should be preserved. Changing these buildings infrastructure might hurt some people's sentiments and moral values of the country. These buildings should be restored by the government in order to keep the country's pride alive. Buildings such as art galleries, town halls and meusems make people connected to their values.
As we all know, in this tech savy era old and outdated buildings are not much attracted to different people. People like to see upgrades in all aspects of their life. Replacing the art galleries and town hall with new modern buildings could not require daily maintenance and efforts. Modern buildings are a much more safer place and can restrict the unauthorised access of any person.
To conclude, we can say that upgrading and replacing the town halls and art galleries to modern buildings are much more safer and cost effective options. The young generation likes to live in mordern world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, but the development of ideas is limited. The essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which prevents a full exploration of the arguments. While the position is clear, the supporting points—such as the mention of 'unauthorised access'—are not fully developed or logically linked to the broader debate about cultural heritage versus modernization. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure you meet the minimum word count requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within and between sentences. While the overall progression is logical, the limited length makes the flow feel somewhat disjointed. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore', 'conversely', 'consequently') to create a smoother transition between your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some spelling errors (e.g., 'meusems', 'mordern', 'savy') and minor collocation issues, such as 'incurred huge amounts' (which needs an object like 'of money') and 'much more safer' (which is grammatically redundant). While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'infrastructural' and 'unauthorised access', the overall lexical range is limited. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'despite other people thinks' (subject-verb agreement error), 'could not require' (incorrect modal usage), and 'much more safer' (double comparative). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels repetitive. To improve, work on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of comparative adjectives. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures will also help improve your score in this criterion.
