Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, but the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While the prompt asks for a discussion on restoration versus replacement, the arguments are somewhat circular, focusing heavily on the idea of 'making money' through tickets. The position is clear, but the supporting points lack depth and specific examples. The essay touches on the importance of history and education, but these points are not fully extended. To improve, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments and ensure each paragraph contributes a distinct, well-developed point rather than restating the same concept.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by disjointed sentences and a lack of effective cohesive devices. Transitions such as 'Furthermore' and 'In my opinion' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is frequently broken by fragmented sentences and repetitive phrasing. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother, more cohesive narrative.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple terms like 'old', 'new', 'good', and 'make'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'too much expensive' instead of 'too expensive' and 'make the money' instead of 'generate revenue'. The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts the ability to express complex ideas with precision. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to architecture, urban planning, and heritage conservation, and focus on using more accurate collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which impacts readability. For example, 'some memories and historical place' is grammatically incomplete, and 'thay all aloft of people' is unclear. There is a limited range of complex structures, and the attempts at them are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct punctuation, and practicing the use of complex sentences with appropriate conjunctions and relative clauses.
