Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an ongoing debate regarding the renovation of museums. There are divided opinions for this, some proponents counter claim that even though, the restoration of old monuments can be highly expensive it should be done. However, other argue that, the governmental bodies should replaced them with the new modern infrastructure. I firmly support that first view point. Both the view points along with the relevant justification will be elaborated further in the ensuing paragraphs and with my viewpoint.
Discussing the first view point that supporters put forward is that, the old buildings should be renovated and preserved even if it is can be costly because those monuments represents our history and reflects our culture to the future generations. This means that , if we protect those art galleries and the historical buildings it will help us to know our ancestors and teaches us the values required for living. Moreover, preserving the ancient town hall and our literatures also provide us the sense of pride and nationality.
However, other people opine that, the money should be invested in creating new building rather than the preserving old ones. as, the new developments will bring the the new opportunity for the future generations and will be maintained for years. Apart from that, the believe that old art galleries and town hall has no connecting with the present and future generation as they have their own thoughts of living and they are not going to follow the old one.
To recapitulate, it can be finally commented that, all the people have their own school of thoughts and have their own reasons towards saving the historical buildings, But according to my view, I believe that, the old forts and museums should be renovated because it contains many ancients knowledge of medicines and the science which is need to us in everyday life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though some arguments, such as the claim that old buildings contain 'ancient knowledge of medicines', are somewhat underdeveloped and lack specific, logical support. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To improve, you should aim to provide more concrete examples or logical explanations for your arguments rather than relying on broad generalizations. The structure is clear, and the task requirements are met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'Moreover', and 'To recapitulate', but some are used mechanically or incorrectly, such as the comma placement in 'This means that , if we protect...'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel slightly repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that punctuation does not disrupt the logical connection between clauses.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. However, there is a lack of range and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'new modern infrastructure' and 'old buildings'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the believe that' (should be 'the belief') and 'no connecting with' (should be 'no connection with'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('monuments represents', 'it is can be costly') and article usage ('the new opportunity', 'the ancient knowledge'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several unnecessary commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your writing.
