Student answer (Band 7.0)
People have different opinions whether the government should demolish the traditional buildings, such as town halls and art gallaries, or renovate them. Although some argue that authorities should repair these buildings regarding it's require potential amount, others contend that these are replaced by new one for nation success. I will discuss both views before presenting my opinion.
Proponants, those believe that old buildings should be restored is that it connects people from their culture and traditions. This is because when they visit these buildings, then they get information about their customes, how the freedom fighter have fight for country and the artifacts which can enhance their knowlegde. As it is often seen in many places the town halls provide information about the incidents happened in past, which not only make young generation to curious about the past events, but it's motivate them to connect with their own culture. As a result, youth can stay informed about their country heritage.
However, those who think that new buildings should be made for country progress. They contend that these new buildings can improve tourism. Every year thousands of tourist visit the countries those have unique culture and designs. Having unique architectural design, the place can cater more visitors, which can improve the country economy because visitors spend a huge amount on tourist destinations. If the goverenment spend on new buildings, which is a win-win situation for country and tourists.
In my opinion, while traditional infrastrructure has merits, the advantages of modern building cannot ignored. I think that government should restored those building who have greater value for the country and demolish those who are purposeless, which means that they are not usable or can be harmful for people or other places. New architectural designs will help the country to grow economically and attract vistiors.
To sum up, even though old buildings connect people through nation heritage, the modern places help to grow economy. I believe that governments should strike balance between old and new building for country success.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural value of old buildings versus the economic benefits of modernization. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding tourism and economic growth is a bit generic and could be strengthened with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points while offering a balanced perspective. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth and specific detail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'However,' 'As a result,' and 'To sum up,' which help guide the reader through the argument. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or the referencing is a bit unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the sentence structure becomes repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'renovate,' 'infrastructure,' and 'architectural design.' However, there are several spelling errors ('gallaries,' 'customes,' 'knowlegde,' 'goverenment,' 'vistiors') and some awkward word choices or collocations, such as 'regarding it's require potential amount' and 'freedom fighter have fight.' These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. Expanding the range of vocabulary and focusing on accurate spelling and collocation would significantly improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Proponants... is that'), article usage, and verb tense consistency ('freedom fighter have fight'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in apostrophe usage ('it's' instead of 'its'). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the essay. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic grammatical rules, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses, to ensure that complex structures are used accurately.
