Student answer (Band 6.0)

A few individuals deem that old buildings should save even though it can be more expensive. While others ponder that authority should spend more on the another new style buildings. I will discuss the both view points and also explain my point of view in the upcoming paragraghs.

On the one hand, tourist attraction is the main reason why authority should spend money on this side. As by visitors, local people and government can earn money. In Amritsar Gold Temple is one of the good tourist attraction example where not only local individual are surviving but also government will earn money by tax. Moreover by old buildings masses knows about the past stories of the building, cultures and happenings where they know their roots.

On the other hand, by the another new modern building like schools, hospitals, llibraies extra people will not faced the present problem. For example if there is school near by instead of old building it is good for the children to get the proper and good education. However, Old people do not need to go the other cities for their checkups, if the hospitals are in their own cities.

To conclude, I personally think that government should spend money on the present things where people cannot face the trouble. Rather than expenditure for the old building authority should invest money on the significant things like Education transportations as well as health related.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited, and the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the depth of the argument. While the points regarding tourism and modern infrastructure are relevant, they are somewhat superficial and lack the necessary elaboration to fully explore the complexities of the topic. The conclusion is clear, but the overall task fulfilment is hindered by the brevity and lack of detailed supporting evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'To conclude', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with grammatical errors (e.g., 'by the another new modern building'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow of the argument. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is somewhat simplistic.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'deem that old buildings should save' (should be 'be saved') and 'masses knows about the past stories'. The use of vocabulary is repetitive, and the student struggles with collocation, such as 'present things' and 'significant things'. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('masses knows'), incorrect article usage ('in Amritsar Gold Temple'), and awkward sentence construction ('people will not faced the present problem'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are persistent and occasionally distract the reader. A greater focus on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure variety is needed to reach a higher band.
