Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often debated whether historical buildings such as town halls and art galleries should be renovated even though spend a high amount for it. While some people strongly believe that administration should renew them with modern buildings. This essay will examine both perspectives before explaining why I am more inclined to believe that restoring old buildings is crucial for our, historic beliefs.
On the one hand, those who support the view that deconstruct the old building and replaced them with new building argue that old buildings are useless as spending money to rebuild them is just a waste of money. This is primarily because today's generation love to explore the places with more attractions and creative adventure rather than going to old places and reading about their historical values. For instance, young people love to go for fun instead of learning motives. Most of the people love to see more attractive places whereas they think visiting to such an old building is just a waste of time and seems boring for them. For this reason it is understandable that why this viewpoint remains widely accepted.
On the other hand, other believes that restoring old art galleries and museums are play an pivotal role to shape youngsters development as they are concerned about if old buildings would demolished it will destroy the cultural values as well. This argument carries considerable weight because that antique piece has great values and highly influenced lessons which help to learn about our cultures. Personally, I find this perspective more convincing as it is not only address the advantages of restoring them but also contributes to long term benefits.
To conclude, although both sides of argument present valid point, I am of the opinion that it is important to preserve old buildings is ultimately beneficial.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument for replacing buildings relies on the generalization that 'young people love to go for fun,' which lacks depth. The second body paragraph attempts to explain the importance of cultural values but remains repetitive and lacks specific, concrete examples to support the claims. While the task is addressed, the supporting points are not fully extended, and the reasoning is occasionally simplistic. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations and specific examples to justify your arguments, ensuring that each point is fully explored rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand,' to signal shifts in perspective. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear or awkward, such as 'it is understandable that why this viewpoint remains widely accepted.' Additionally, some sentences lack smooth transitions, making the flow feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. You use some relevant terms like 'renovated,' 'historical values,' and 'cultural values,' but there are also instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'spend a high amount for it' instead of 'incur high costs' and 'deconstruct the old building' instead of 'demolish.' Furthermore, there is some repetition of basic vocabulary, such as 'old buildings' and 'waste of money.' To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of less common lexical items and ensure that your word choices are more natural and contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'administration should renew them with modern buildings' (missing article), 'other believes' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'if old buildings would demolished' (incorrect passive voice construction). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in tense, agreement, and sentence structure prevent the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms in conditional sentences, and the proper use of articles.
