Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few individuals think that old building like town halls and galleries should be renovated, even though this can be expensive, whine other think that government should replace them with future buildings. I believe that if we can replace then we can otherwise no need to send money on old ones.

The prominent reason is that, definitely we can renovate the old building because if the building need only touchup then no need to spend money on it and also people who work there having a emotion with the building if we destroy and make new ones on it many people brake their emotions . For example, many individuals spend their whole life and if they see the building daily same then they can feel happy.

On the other hand, if government replace the building with new ones then they can build the builder with proper planning . So with this we can organize everything with our needs. For instance, they should make proper rooms for proper purpose also make big parking areas underground so people will not have any issue with parking.

I think that , if the building is good only need to renovation then we will do for it instead of spending money on new ones because its very expensive . Other reason is that, we need to spend money one education and provide jobs to the young mindes with this our education system and economy will boost and get educated people.

In conclusion, i would like to reiterate that although restored the build is good option but we also have important thing to do or spend money on it like making hospitals, roads and parks and ,many more.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding 'emotions' is not fully explained, and the reasoning for replacing buildings is somewhat generic. While the prompt is addressed, the depth of analysis is insufficient for a higher band. The conclusion introduces new ideas (hospitals, roads) that were not previously discussed, which slightly weakens the coherence of the argument. To improve, ensure that each point is supported with more specific, logical reasoning rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'The prominent reason is that' and 'Other reason is that' are used repetitively. Additionally, there are issues with referencing and logical flow; for example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. The use of punctuation, particularly commas, is inconsistent, which occasionally disrupts the flow of ideas. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the overall coherence of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'brake their emotions' (likely meaning 'break their emotional connection') and 'make the builder' (referring to the building). The student relies on basic vocabulary, and there is little evidence of an attempt to use less common or more precise lexical items. Spelling errors, such as 'mindes' and 'whine' (instead of 'while'), also occur. To reach a higher band, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary and focus on using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'building need only touchup'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'although restored the build is good option'). These errors are persistent and occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp. While the student attempts complex sentences, they are often faulty. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency and pluralization.
