Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, it is very hard to see the ancient structures in the city. Many folks believe that these buildings should be restored while others think government should take a charge of it and turn them into new buildings. In the next paragraph I am going to discuss the both views with my own opinion.

To start with, it is always a great idea to keep the historical buildings as it is so that the next generation can see the exact facts that happened in the past and they can relate their therorictal knowledge with them. the beauty and artwork of old building are always eye catching. For instance, the bullet prints of general dyer in "Jallawn vala Bagh" in Amritsar is still same till now and it showcase the history to everyone till date. Apart from this there is well in which many people jumped to save their lives is still there.

On the other hand, sometimes these old buildings are dangerous for neighbourhood buildings during the rainy season because the material used in that structures were too old and in case of any damage would be harmful for others. For example, hazar ali temple in Mumbai got damaged due to the old town hall was demolished during the excess rain water in the building.

According to my preception, government should not replace the building in modern one but they can repair the things which are too old. In this way , the history of that particular building will not wrapped up.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like the Jallianwala Bagh, the explanation of why restoration is preferable is brief. The counter-argument regarding safety is relevant, but the example provided is unclear and lacks sufficient detail to fully support the point. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph contains a well-developed argument with a clear link to the prompt. The conclusion is present but could be more robust in summarising the main points discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'On the other hand', and 'Apart from this' to transition between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and minor errors in referencing. For example, the transition between the historical significance of buildings and the safety concerns could be smoother. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of cohesive devices and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more explicit and less mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'restored', 'historical buildings', and 'artwork'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'take a charge of it', 'therorictal knowledge', and 'will not wrapped up'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and refining your use of academic vocabulary to ensure more precise expression of your thoughts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the ancient structures'), subject-verb agreement ('material used in that structures were'), and tense consistency. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas and spacing. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency of the text. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure will help you achieve a higher score.
