Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals believe that historical architectures need to be maintained, although this needs umpteen financial requirements. However, other experts argue and state that authorities need to prioritise developing the modern building for the various reasons.
To commence with, people who propose their viewpoint regarding restoring the old building might help the country to boost the country economy since this approach render various domestic and international visitor. Because historical places are always attractive due to the engineering methods of past.
Secondly, these places give various knowledge and inputs to the current generation to conduct the research and development for new discoveries to know how people lived in the past without the any modern innovations. Hence, law should maintain it’s status to store the old memories.
On the other hand, other school of thought feels that instead spending colossal amount on maintaining the old structures, authorities should give important to current improvements like building better infrastructure’s, school, universities, medical and parking places since these are higher requirements for the current generations. For example, due to various monuments in Delhi, there is no adequate place for the better hospitals and colleges. Therefore, people travels miles away to consult doctor and for the studies. Furthermore, to maintain the old building governments need to spend chunk of money frequently, which has no use for the public. Instead these money can be spent on those who economically deprived and have no money to study at renowned universities.
To conclude, disputes a side, I personally believe that, restoring the old architecture would be definitely worthwhile since in the current era these structure are hardly built and these places attracts various tourists and also useful for the education.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the points regarding tourism and education are relevant, the explanation is occasionally repetitive or lacks depth. For instance, the argument about Delhi is a good specific example, but the connection between maintaining old buildings and the lack of hospitals is a bit of a leap in logic. The response covers all parts of the prompt, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'disputes a side'. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and flow; for example, the sentence 'Hence, law should maintain it’s status to store the old memories' is unclear in its meaning and connection to the previous point. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but shows limited flexibility. There are attempts to use less common items like 'colossal', 'umpteen', and 'deprived', but some word choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as 'umpteen financial requirements' or 'give important to'. There are also some minor errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'infrastructure’s' (plural/possessive confusion) and 'the any modern innovations'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of precision and occasional awkward phrasing prevents a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('these places attracts'), incorrect article usage ('the country economy'), and punctuation errors ('it’s' instead of 'its'). While these errors do not generally impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. The control over complex structures is inconsistent, and the sentence construction often feels a bit clunky. More attention to basic grammar rules and proofreading for small errors would improve the score significantly.
