Student answer (Band 5.0)
Here i would l like to keep my opinion about old building and hall is that people who are living in old building are use to that because they must have spend many years and they would not like to change in new building its there belief. However they prefer old art galleries because they visit often and they are very familiar with are area. More over they get comfort and feel relaxed.
Some thoughts of new generation believe that new buildings have all kinds of facility plus amenities. They have special parking for different flats ,walking area for senior citizen , camera and even the security. The modern building has an advantage that the flats are secure and no chance of any robbery.
As per my experience people should focus more on new building for the safer side and even for long term because the modern building are very unique plus even for instants if the power cut off is there the electricity can used by the generator so if any flat mates are in the lift with small children they are safe and they do have a very quick service to rescue anyone if they are in trouble. So this are all the benefits for new building . Old building do not have any guaranty it can be harmful to people who are staying inside and it can be kind of dangerous for toddlers plus for old generation . And one thing they do not have walking path.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, but the development is limited. The arguments regarding old buildings focus primarily on personal comfort rather than the broader cultural or historical significance usually expected in this task. The arguments for new buildings are more detailed, focusing on safety and amenities. However, the response lacks depth and fails to explore the 'costly' aspect mentioned in the prompt. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, and the focus shifts from public buildings (town halls/galleries) to residential flats, which weakens the relevance of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'More over' and 'As per my experience'. The progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the transition between the first and second paragraphs. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of sophisticated linking words. The overall organization is logical, but the execution lacks the flexibility required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. Phrases like 'new building', 'old building', and 'very unique' are used frequently. There are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'flat mates' (which usually refers to people living together, not the building itself) and 'electricity can used'. The range is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but there is little attempt to use less common or more precise vocabulary related to architecture, urban planning, or historical preservation. Spelling errors, such as 'instants' instead of 'instance', also occur.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'people who are living in old building are use to that' and 'if any flat mates are in the lift... they are safe'. Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect spacing. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are frequently problematic. The frequency of errors is high enough to occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, though the core message remains understandable.
