Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay addresses both views and provides an opinion, the conclusion is incomplete and abruptly ends mid-sentence. The arguments regarding the preservation of historical buildings are relevant, but the discussion on replacing them lacks depth and specific examples. Because the essay is under-length and the final paragraph is unfinished, the development of the argument is insufficient to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to structure the response. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete conclusion. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow within paragraphs is sometimes disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'certain section of them', which makes it difficult to follow the writer's intended meaning. The overall arrangement is coherent enough to be understood, but the lack of a finished conclusion affects the logical progression.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'law makers should founds to the well-being' and 'modern buildings tends to interact people'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The range of vocabulary is limited, and the student relies on basic terms. To improve, the student should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'certain section of them have a opinion', 'it could be took huge money', and 'modern buildings tends to interact'. Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student needs to focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive and active voice.
