Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed by some individuals that heritage buildings such as town halls and art galleries should be renewed despite it is costly, whereas others believe that these monuments should be replaced with new modern buildings by authorities. This essay will discuss both perspectives and I firmly believe that these are the souvenir and should be taken care of.
Admittedly, many argue that governments should replace old monuments with new modern buildings. That is to say, taking care of these buildings are quiet expensive and can raise burden on government budget. However, authorities can demolished these buildings and can replace them with new buildings which can be utilized for other purposes such as community centers, schools, libraries. Modern buildings with all amenities are the demand of the hour and well equipped buildings don't require any restoration in short spam of time. Thus, it lessen the pressure on states and fund can be utilize for other purposes. For example, in many countries development in the form of new buildings can be seen easily.
On the other hand, there are many who assert that these buildings should be redeveloped. This is because, these buildings are our souvenir and should be taken care of properly. Firstly, these buildings protect our heritage and our historical values which shows sacrifice and devotions of our ancestors. Secondly, these buildings can be a source of income for the government, as it not only attracts tourism but also provide employment to the local regions. For instance, Tajmahal in India is famous tourist attraction for its beauty and well taken care by the authorities to maintain the aesthetic presence of this building. Thus, these building should be properly maintain and should not be demolished.
To conclude, although maintenance of old buildings can be quiet expensive, I personally believe that these buildings are our souvenir and should be protect at each and every cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic burden of restoration versus the cultural value of heritage. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the argument for replacing buildings is more detailed than the counter-argument. While the position is consistent, some points, such as the mention of 'souvenir' to describe buildings, are slightly underdeveloped or imprecise in their expression. Overall, the task requirements are met, but the depth of analysis could be improved to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Admittedly', 'However', 'On the other hand', and 'Firstly'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'these' to refer to broad concepts. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text, which keeps the reader focused on the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice. For example, the word 'souvenir' is used incorrectly to refer to historical buildings; 'heritage' or 'landmark' would be more appropriate. Other errors include 'short spam of time' (span) and 'aesthetic presence'. While the meaning is generally clear, these lexical errors and the reliance on some basic vocabulary limit the score. To improve, you should focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'taking care of these buildings are quiet expensive' (is quite), 'authorities can demolished' (demolish), 'fund can be utilize' (utilized), and 'should be protect' (protected). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. A greater focus on subject-verb agreement and passive voice construction would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
