Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern time, there are number of arguments that has lifted regarding the restoration of old buildings, such as town halls and art galleries, despite of it's high cost. There are other people argue that modern buildings should replace those old buildings.
On the one hand, restoration of the old buildings, such as town hall and art galleries will be very costly. The reason for the increased expense in the restoration is it's maintainence. The buildings like art galleries should be kept clean and polished, as it will attract the tourist from all over the world. This will rise the tension of controlling the costly art in a gallery. Likewise, town hall will occupy a diffent land of it's own, where as, in the modern time it is not much needed, becuase of the political buildings developed in the towns.
On the other hand, keeping the increase in human population, the modern buildings will provide the required accomodation to the peoples. Apparently, as the new modern buildings will developed, it will attract the people from all around the world, which will benefit the government by taking a rise in tourism. Additionally, as the generation is evolving, the infrastructures and imagination of the architectures had reached to another high level. To cite an example, recently in my college, we were told to complete a survey about the famous tourist attraction in the world and majority of the poeple believed that, keeping in mind the historical importance of old buildings like town hall and art galleries, majority had opted to visit a places like amusement park, water park, City's Skyline in dowtown, etc.
In the conclusion, I believe that constructing modern buildings is much more beneficial for the government, as it will increase the tourism in their town.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. The arguments regarding the cost of restoration and the benefits of modern buildings are presented, but the supporting points are occasionally unclear or illogical, such as the claim that modern buildings are needed because of 'political buildings' or the confusing survey example. To improve, ensure that each supporting point directly reinforces the main argument and provides a more logical connection to the topic. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis could be improved to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'Likewise' and 'Apparently'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, particularly the use of 'it's' and 'they' when referring back to previous nouns. Improving the variety and precision of linking words will help the flow of ideas become more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'lifted regarding' instead of 'raised regarding', 'rise the tension' instead of 'increase the burden', and 'peoples' instead of 'people'. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the recurring errors in word choice suggest a need for more exposure to academic collocations and a better understanding of word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('there are number of arguments that has lifted'), incorrect use of apostrophes ('it's' used for possessive 'its'), and tense inconsistencies ('as the new modern buildings will developed'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
