Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, but the development is limited and often unclear due to language errors. The introduction is confusing, and the arguments lack depth. For example, the mention of the 'textile industry' and 'maps' in the second body paragraph is largely irrelevant to the topic of building restoration. Furthermore, the response is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which impacts the overall task completion. To improve, you should ensure that your arguments are directly relevant to the prompt and provide more detailed explanations for your points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear referencing. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'Nevertheless', 'To recapitulate'), they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences themselves are often grammatically incoherent. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure that each sentence clearly relates to the main idea of the paragraph.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which frequently impedes communication. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'regine' (likely meaning 'regime' or 'government'), 'rackon' (reckon), and 'toddlers' (which is inappropriate in this context). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. You should focus on learning collocations and using words in their correct context rather than attempting to use complex vocabulary that you are not yet comfortable with.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that make the text difficult to understand. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'numerous individual think'), sentence structure (e.g., 'is this reason that if they save'), and word order. Complex sentence structures are attempted but are almost always faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect pluralisation.
