Student answer (Band 5.5)
When it comes to some old buildings should be renovated or replaced them with modern architecture, there are differing opinions on thematter. It is important to discuss both sides of the argument to gain a comprehensive understanding. In this essay, both sides of the topic will be discussed followed by my opinion.
Supporters of old buildings like town halls and art galleries should be renovated. This is because old buildings indicates some memories.
For instance, in Pakistan "Minar-e-Pakistan" is vary old building and many historical events was arranged at the time of idependence.
Additinally, old buildings resemble the culture of the country.
On the other hand government should replce them with modern style architecture.
This means that these are just modern style buildings and there is no attraction.
To instantiate, in India Shah Jahan built a "Taj Mahal" for his wife. If the government replace them with modern style then this building will not fascinate to people.
Moreover, govenment should not replace the old buildings because old buildings are an ancient style. This refers to the factor that art galleries represents the atique style paintings
After considering both sides of the arguments, I am inclined to support old buildings should be renovate. I find the arguments in favor of old buildings should be restored more compelling because old buildings are the symbols of the traditions and cultures of the country
While there are valid points made by the opposing side old buildings should be replaced, I believe that old buildings should be renovate offers advantages that outweigh the drawbacks.
In conclusion, while old buildings should be renovate have benefits like symbol of our traditions and old memories and old building replace with modern architecture has drawback like peole don't attract them. In my opinion the benefits of old building should be restored poses always outweigh the limitations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the argument regarding 'Minar-e-Pakistan' is brief and lacks a clear connection to why restoration is preferable to replacement. The arguments for modern buildings are also underdeveloped and somewhat contradictory, as the example of the Taj Mahal is used to argue against replacing old buildings, which confuses the reader. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure that your examples directly support the specific side of the argument you are discussing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of effective cohesive devices. While you use some transition words like 'Additionally' and 'Moreover', they are often used mechanically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the sentence structure makes it difficult to follow the comparison between the two viewpoints. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You frequently use the same phrases, such as 'old buildings should be renovate' and 'modern style architecture'. There are also issues with word formation and collocation, such as 'antique style paintings' and 'peole don't attract them'. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary and use it more accurately. Try to avoid repeating the same phrases and focus on using more precise terminology related to architecture and urban development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb forms and sentence structure. For instance, 'old buildings should be renovate' should be 'old buildings should be renovated', and 'many historical events was arranged' should be 'were arranged'. The sentence structures are often simple or contain errors that make the meaning slightly unclear. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice. You should also practice constructing more complex sentences while ensuring that the grammar remains accurate.
