Student answer (Band 6.0)

few citizens think that old monuments should be protected at any cost while rest have complete different ideology they say government should priorities new era properties. This essay will illustrate both thoughts followed by my personal judgement.

To commence with, historical infrastructure represents how the world would look like in past moreover, it preserve the history of that place where it is built. Old building represents the past of the nation. for instance, "Jantar Mantar" a historical building in capital city of India tells the story about the struggle of freedom fighters to give India its's independence from Britishers. Additionally, It helps to expand the horizon of knowledge of the citizens about the historical events. Secondly, historical monuments represents the cities, towns or whole state. For example, Statue of Liberty in United States Of America depicts the value of democracy for which it is most popular in whole worlds and it portrays good image of USA worldwide.

On the contrary, modernization is the key for progress. With help of technology authorities can make new vertical building which will help to save lot of space which can be later utilized in best possible way. As population is increasing every day but land is limited so more and more pupil can reside in sky scrapers. Furthermore, the way of living is changing rapidly citizens schedule is becoming hectic so they need more modes of enjoyments in same building so ruling party can build modern building which have all amenities like pool, cinema, restaurant and play area.

To conclude, in my perspective both group have valid arguments. so, authorities should equally focus on building new structure and preserving historic buildings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural importance of historical sites versus the practical benefits of modernization. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding modernization focuses heavily on space-saving and amenities but could have been more deeply explored. The introduction is a bit brief, and the conclusion, while stating a position, could have been more integrated into the overall argument. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis remains at a functional level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Additionally', and 'On the contrary', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'few citizens think that old monuments... while rest have complete different ideology'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the overall progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by repetitive phrasing and minor structural issues.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'historical infrastructure', 'modernization', and 'amenities'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'new era properties', 'modes of enjoyments', and 'ruling party' (which is contextually inappropriate here). Spelling errors, such as 'pupil' instead of 'people' and 'sky scrapers', also occur. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include missing articles ('in capital city', 'in United States'), subject-verb agreement issues ('historical monuments represents'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'India its's independence'). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the essay, though they rarely impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, pluralization, and possessive forms, before attempting more complex structures.
