Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this technological era, there is always a heated argument over the replacement of the old buildings with the modern ones. There is no doubt that town halls and museums incurs money to preserve these ancient monuments. A majority of society opposes to save the old buildings; however, the rest favours this. Large proportions to people wants to demolish the old ones and invest in modern ones. This essay will discuss both views in the upcoming paragraphs.
On one hand, people should conserve the historical culture to teach their future generations about the old monuments. For instance, there are innumberable forts in the Rajasthan which depict the cultural history. Moreover ,these art galleries , museums also contribute to boost the economy which uplift the GDP of the country . To illustrate this, these monuments are the tourist spot and enormous foreign visitors visit every year in these town halls that contribute in substantial growth of our economy.
On the flip side, the large proportion of individuals want to demolish these town halls and museums because it is a costly process to preserve these monuments. It incurs too much money to repairs and maintain these halls. Instead of spending huge money on these things, authorities should contribute towards education system. For instance, Government should build new conference rooms in the schools which are full of modern amenities such as, projectors of new technology. Moving ahead, Government should invest in hospitals so that doctors can save the people from dangerous diseases. They should install more elevators in the hospitals for the patients that should be easily accessible to the doctors. For example, there must be more elevators in the cardiology department as it's tough to use stairwell for heart problem patients.
To repitulate , I reiterate that government should focus on both old and new buildings Because old buildings helps to preserve the culture for future generations and also support in economy. However, regimes also contribute towards schools and hospitals to replace there infrastructure and replace with the modern and technical one.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural value of monuments versus the economic burden of maintenance. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument for replacing buildings is supported by specific examples like school infrastructure and hospital elevators, which is good, but the discussion on the benefits of preservation is slightly more generic. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the two viewpoints. To reach a higher band, ensure that the arguments for both sides are developed with equal depth and sophistication.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On one hand,' 'On the flip side,' and 'To illustrate this,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. There are also minor issues with referencing and sentence-level flow, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in the introduction: 'Large proportions to people wants to demolish...' and the abrupt transition between the hospital examples. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'innumerable,' 'monuments,' and 'amenities.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'incurs money' (should be 'costs money' or 'requires funding'), 'opposes to save' (should be 'opposes saving'), and 'regimes' (which usually refers to political systems, not government authorities). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word choice to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Large proportions to people wants') and article usage ('the Rajasthan,' 'the economy'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some spacing issues before commas. The errors are noticeable but rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as well as proofreading for minor slips that occur throughout the text.
