Student answer (Band 5.5)
Most of the people wants that old buildings such as town halls and art galleries need to be restored whether it is expensive or not but rest believes that government need to replace them with new modern buildings. In further paragraphs, I discuss both the view point as well as my opinion on this particular statement.
The people who are arguing about that building needs to be repaired no doubt they are costly instead of making them from start believes that if the building are repaired then the people believe that the culture heritage should be preserved they feel belonging the building.
On the other hand the one who wants the government to redevelop the building into new modern design are much practical. As it save the energy efficiency of the building as modern tech and tools are used to make them. Furthermore, when buildings are new then the safety standard of the structure increases and there are less chances of any injury or harm. Moreover, in new the building precautions for any dangerous situation can be handle more easily than in old building.
In conclusion, my opinion is also that government need to build new structure for the town halls and art galleries as in this modern world people more attracts to new things rather than old and the new building gave a aesthetic views to youngsters to post on their social media. Therefore, replace the building is more worth than restored the old ones cause it has more advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the argument for restoration mentions 'cultural heritage' and 'belonging' but does not elaborate on these concepts. Similarly, the argument for new buildings touches on energy efficiency and safety, but these points are presented as a list rather than being fully extended. The conclusion introduces a new, somewhat superficial argument regarding social media, which detracts from the depth of the discussion. To improve, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and specific examples for each viewpoint to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In further paragraphs' and 'the one who wants' are slightly unnatural. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within sentences, leading to a somewhat choppy flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Moreover, in new the building precautions for any dangerous situation can be handle more easily'. Improving the variety and precision of your transition signals will significantly enhance the logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'new things' and 'good', and there are several instances of awkward word choice or collocation, such as 'replace the building is more worth than restored the old ones'. Additionally, there are grammatical errors involving word forms, such as 'people more attracts' instead of 'people are more attracted'. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to urban planning and architecture, and ensure you use the correct word forms in your sentences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Most of the people wants'), incorrect verb forms ('can be handle'), and missing articles or prepositions ('in new the building'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking necessary commas to separate clauses. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage.
