Student answer (Band 6.0)

Old structures such as art galleries and town halls, should get restoration funding from governements despite of the high cost of repair, argued by certain people. While, other says that new, modern structures should replace them. I strongly believe that government should limit funding old buildings and invest in new, modern buildings which are more cost-efficient and easily manageable.

The cost of managing and building new structures, are the best way to invest governments money. It would be less expensive compare to fixing old buildings every quarterly due to frequent maintainances. While, the new structures easily survive longer then that without any issues. For example, The cost of maintaining the old fort in my city, Surat, requires good amount of money and it has barely few visitors as compare to new art museum which requires less funding and provide funds to the government for other issues in the city.

On the other hand, some argues that, in order to keep the culture alive, governements should take care of old buildings. Old constructions are important way to pass culture to new generations and to keep them connected but I think there should be limit to spend funds on those building rather than overspending and we can still forward the cultural touch to new buildings.

In conclusion, one side has their valid arguments to keep funding for restoration of old constrcutions, I believe, with the limitation of funds for older buildings and investing in the new buildings are the best cost-sufficient way for governements.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the cost-efficiency of new buildings, the argument regarding cultural preservation is underdeveloped. The example of the fort in Surat is relevant, but the explanation of how to incorporate 'cultural touch' into new buildings remains vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with more depth and logical reasoning, rather than relying on general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'While, other says' and 'While, the new structures'. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help the flow of your writing feel more natural and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'restoration', 'cost-efficient', and 'maintaining'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'governements' and 'constrcutions', and some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'fix' instead of 'renovate' or 'restore'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure you proofread for spelling errors, which currently occur frequently enough to distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'The cost... are the best way') and incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'despite of'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
