Student answer (Band 6.0)

Few individuals told that old buildings such as town hall and art galleries should be renovated while, others believe that replacing them with a new and modern buildings. In this essay I will discuss both the views and I will give provide my opinion on this matter.

On the one hand, Few individuals argue that art galleries and town hall should be restored. By restoring them people can save their history. It give an inspirations to newly born and upcoming generations of the citizens. In addition, tourist can attract to these places and gain a knowledge of different region's beliefs. It will also contribute to the economy, as a result, it will benefit to the government.

On the other hand, others argue that these places will be replace with the new and modern buildings, such as high rise building and business offices. Replacing old buildings with modern touch gives easy access to everyone most importantly disable people, while in old buildings there no such facilities for disable people. New buildings have new electronic items which is energy sufficient and use less energy in compare with old items.

In my opinion, Government can repair old art galleries and town hall with updates facilities like, ramp, elevetors and new electronic itmes without damaging old constructions because few art galleries has old design on his walls which is imposible to recreate as same as before. In many countries govenrment saves these place for their beliefs and tradition. Moreover, These buildings set an example to the civil engineers for inspiration, In those times people do not have any proper living supplies despite they biuld such buildings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion, meeting the requirements of the prompt. The ideas are relevant, such as the historical value of buildings versus the functional benefits of modern construction. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the point about 'new electronic items' being 'energy sufficient' is a good observation but lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more specific details or logical consequences. The position is consistent throughout, but the overall development remains at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as 'It give an inspirations' where the pronoun 'It' lacks a clear antecedent. Additionally, some transitions are repetitive or slightly awkward, such as 'as a result, it will benefit to the government'. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some topic-specific terms like 'renovated', 'restored', and 'high rise building', but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'newly born and upcoming generations' (should be 'future generations') and 'energy sufficient' (should be 'energy efficient'). There are also minor spelling errors like 'elevetors' and 'itmes'. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary rather than relying on general, sometimes inaccurate, phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Few individuals told', 'tourist can attract'), article usage ('the new and modern buildings'), and incorrect verb forms ('these places will be replace'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically verb tenses and pluralization.
