Student answer (Band 6.0)

With the rise in development alot of old building are being replaced by the modern styled which includes the town halls, art galleries and meeting halls which is approved by some and argued by others.

People often think that restoring the old structures presevre the integrity of the place and Upload the cultural value. Even tough restoring a old architect cost alot still people prefer to do it. As they want their future generation to also experience and feel the same things what they once felt. Also restoring the dimishing structure can help that place to keep its historic vaule uptight.

on the other hand people who appricatiate the change they prefer these old structures to be torn apart and replace them with newly styled building. People often do this to be a part of the development, to stand out with the changing world. it can also give those places the new identity which can last for a long time.

In my opinion i would always stand with the restoring the building in order to preserve the historic touch of that place. It helps people of that area to be connected to that place.

For Example there was old liabrary near my place where my dad use to go when he was in collage. i also went to the same libaray during my school time. As it was geeting old alot of people were asking to renovate it to a new structed building but people from our town came together and asked for the resoration of the same building even it coasts more they were even down to contribute.

in the end i feel like restoring is the best option it helps to keep people together and boost them emotionally to work for the good of the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural value of old buildings versus the modern identity of new ones. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. The example of the library is personal and relevant, but it lacks depth in terms of broader societal or economic implications. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your arguments with more sophisticated reasoning rather than relying on simple personal anecdotes. The position is consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'on the other hand' and 'in my opinion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there is a lack of variety in linking words. Some transitions are missing or awkward, such as the start of the second paragraph. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure could benefit from more sophisticated cohesive devices to connect ideas more fluidly across the entire text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'alot', 'presevre', 'dimishing', 'appricatiate', and 'liabrary'. Additionally, some word choices are imprecise, such as 'uptight' (which is used incorrectly here) and 'torn apart'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'restoration' and 'cultural value', the frequent spelling mistakes and limited variety in word choice constrain the score. Focusing on accurate spelling and learning synonyms for common words would significantly improve your performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('old building are'), incorrect verb forms ('my dad use to go'), and punctuation errors, particularly with capitalization at the start of sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic errors like verb tense consistency and capitalization.
