Student answer (Band 6.0)

This topic has sparked the considerble discussion in the society members and among the arcitectural people. Some people opine that historical buildings should be renovate and few people stats that they should demolish the ancient building and convert them into modern infrastructure for current standerds. I will give my perspective and desired solutions in upcoming paragraphs.

First of all, demolishing the heritage buildings, art galleries, and many places as such are not good sign of development for the younger generetion and setting wrong examples in front of them. Ancient infrastructure is work of art and science, is the knowledge source for many archeological students to study and publish the information for public to learn. However, government has specific department such as archeological survey department, their core work is to study the place, maintain, collecting data for back dating of buiding and safegaurd the olders building complex, also preserved them in their native structure, make ancient places to attract tourist to exlpore and learn about different culture.

To commence with, in this modern day age, nostalgia plays very important role in terms of old and ancient town halls, museum, art galleries. Many people wants to feel emotional connection, whenever they visit the place. However, prevention of any mishaps or any disaster incident is taken as atmost priority by the organisations, for that precautionary measures should take place at regular interval such as, renovation of old complex with increased structutral strength, complaince with government norms, also maintaining the nostalgia effect for the visitors.

To encapsulate this, changing the history of town does not make good future for next generations. We should preserve stories of old building and renovate with modern design.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention that old buildings are a 'knowledge source,' this point is not fully extended with a specific example or deeper explanation. The argument regarding 'nostalgia' is relevant, but the connection between structural safety and the preservation of historical value could be more clearly articulated. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is supported by a concrete example or a more detailed logical explanation, rather than listing several general ideas in a single paragraph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all,' 'However,' and 'To encapsulate this.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'To commence with' which does not logically introduce the second body paragraph. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth flow due to grammatical issues, which occasionally makes the relationship between ideas feel disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used in the correct context would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'considerble,' 'arcitectural,' 'generetion,' 'atmost,' 'structutral'). These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the essay. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'infrastructure,' 'heritage,' and 'archeological,' the range is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and try to incorporate more precise collocations to express your ideas more naturally. The current level of vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, but the recurring spelling mistakes limit the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Many people wants,' 'government has specific department'), incorrect word forms ('should be renovate' instead of 'renovated'), and missing articles. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that passive voice constructions are formed correctly. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy is essential for a higher band score.
